Yea but can't you use the pure pricing against them?

If one of those prices do not match, it's deemed unfair to other potential buyers, thus getting a strike.

I'm not sure about other regions, but the Central Atlantic Region has made that very clear to us numerous times. Straight from the website:

"Scion Pure Price means the price you see in the dealership, on the dealership's website, or other dealer advertising locations is the price you pay. This applies to the vehicle, accessories, finance rates and insurance products. With Scion Pure Price, you know the price you will pay and you don't have to spend your time negotiating."
You're right, it varies by region whether that region is a TMS or one of the two private distributors. Here, PP is considered a starting point for negotiations. Nothing is firm, it's wishful thinking on Toyota's part. The one with the money, the customer, makes the rules if Toyota wants to move iron.

Also, these days Toyota is hoping dealers don't voluntarily terminate the Scion franchise as they've been allowed to do nationwide with no hard feelings from TMS starting almost two years ago.

Pure pricing just applies to the price of the vehicle, accessories, financing, and financial products such as Extended Service Contracts and GAP if you decide to pick those up when buying a Scion.

As far as a Doc Fee/Processing Fee, technically the same principle still applies. If they are to charge you an additional fee, it must be clearly presented inside/outside the building what that fee is, and must be clearly stated on the buyers order as well (According to the state of Virginia anyways. Could be different elsewhere).

As far as everyone paying the same for it, that doesn't really apply. I'd say negotiate! It never hurts to ask.

In the end, always check your out the door price and make sure everything in your payments in directly correlated with the OTD number.

We sell 150-200 new cars out of this building every month. If you want to negotiate a Toyota, I'd be more than happy to work something out for you. If you want to haggle on a Scion, go elsewhere wasting your time and let other dealers in our region tell you the same about our "Pure Pricing Crap". We'll be more than glad to send you on your way with a free cup of coffee or a bottle of water for the trip ahead.
Not sure what point you are trying to get across here but I sure will take your free water and coffee and enjoy the shit out of them in an FR-S that wasn't purchased at your dealership.

Lol, I thought this thing was supposed to be over. But just a quick question to anyone who knows. My parents are trying to pick up the FRS Dec 7th, however the dealership wants us to pick it up by Nov 30th. They said they are not allowed to keep sold cars on the lot after the month ends. They said on Dec 1st the DMV will audit their inventory, and if they find a sold car they will receive a fine.

I haven't given my down payment yet but they said they have already sent my documents to the DMV to be processed. The only papers we signed were the ones agreeing on the interest rate and we are willing to buy the car. We haven't signed the final ok lets seal the deal paper.

Reason for my parents not complying to buy it before Nov 30th is because they said all the days before then are bad luck. (Asian Parents), and that Dec 7th is the best day to pick it up. Not super important but please if someone could shed some light on the DMV side and which actions and options I have that would be great. Thanks guys.

It sounds to me the dealers wants you to buy/purchase/sign paperwork for the FRS by November 30 so they can considered it sold in the month of November. Maybe there is some incentive for them to show it is sold in November vs December?

I do not think they have already sent the documents to the DMV. You have not completed or signed the purchase contract or bill of sale. Also what date did the dealer use on these unsigned documents they supposedly sent to the DMV? What if you go into the dealership to sign the papers on November 30 and they claim you "purchased" the car on November 15?

Another question is what if the car gets damaged between the dates on the DMV paperwork? and the date you go into the dealership and complete the transaction? Who is responsible?

Sounds like a shady dealer to me who is trying to coerce you into doing something you don't really want to do.

Alright bottom line is, the sales person was the one trying to hit quota for himself. I spoke to the manager of the store instead and she said "You wanna pay and pick up on the car on Dec 7th? No Problem." The extra 1k was interest charge that shows you this is the total amount you would pay if you follow the 5 year payment plan.

Why not tell the manager you will give him a $500.00 deposit now and then will come back on December 7 and complete the paperwork and take delivery of the car?

There is no need for you to purchase a car today and let it sit at the dealership for 2 weeks. You will be paying for the tag and insurance for these 2 weeks but it will be in the dealerships possession.

@peachsnow, from everything you've written about your experience with this dealership, I don't think it will get any better. I'd walk, call the TMS customer care line and your state DMV dealer division to file complaints against the dealership. What they've done to you is a serious matter, potentially a crime, that could have already affected your credit rating unless you unintentionally gave them permission to start the paperwork process.

Then start over at another dealership in late December using the methods suggested in the beginning of your thread. Your car won't lose value between now and then, incentives and finance terms will likely improve and with the experience you've now gained the process will become easier.

No need to rush into this and make things even messier. There will be no shortage of new FR-S's to choose from.

By any chance are you the first born son?

The car is going to be sold 22,000 so I'm not worried about the trade in value anymore. Yes I am the first born son, and if you are really recommending me to cancel this deal I would need to think it over. Since I'm receiving the car for MSRP 25,050 and 2.69% interest. You think I can get better December 31st?

Let me add that I have visited all the dealers in the Bay Area near me, and they have given me the best price and lowest APR.
