My JDM clear corners are worth at least 3 seconds.

What are the folks in IL/WI (or anywhere else with similar conditions) running early in the season tire-wise (and rain?) I assume it's pretty tough to get RS3's up to temp, and I'm trying to figure out how many sets of wheels I need. I plan to run cold/rain tires as my regular tire for the few occasions I drive otherwise - I work in the loop and walk/train/bike so very little driving.

Work schedule looks like it will prevent me from Nationals events, so I'll probably be over-prepped but... well, compared to last time...

Planning a return to AutoX this year. I will be STX, no question. I recognize a few names from my STS days ('01-'03 or '04?) and am looking forward to it. It'll be interesting to see how much I've forgotten. Unsure if the drive to MP will work out, it's an hour and a half of dead boring, but I really enjoyed the crew that came out to play.

$1000 Enkei 17x9 RPF1's
$ 700 245-40-17 tires Dunlop Z2

$ 270 Whiteline front sway bar 20mm adjustable ( lance ran the stock FSB)
$ 100 Kartboy lightweight pulley

$4519 Total build cost

This can build a competitive car for any region as long as you can drive well.
I just wanted to confirm no header? Are these still street legal? I'm saying I'm not sure what the 'nameless track pipe muffler delete' is?

Also, the flash/tune is with using someone's cable right? Trying to figure out how to get the tune that cheap...

Would you do it differently if starting over?

Subtract the stuff in red and you still have a nationally competitive car in the hands of a good driver.

Yes the in 2013 we did not have a header installed. This was a street legal trim as the track pipe is a muffler delete that was swapped on at the event site.

As for the flash, I bought a license and cable.

We will see what comes to market this season. There are rumors of new tires from a few other companies out there.

True, and I have no tires yet for the season - I'm waiting to see what appears. Well, I'm waiting for wheels too, but... I guess I was more curious if it was worth considering an alternative for early season / rain. That still leaves me unsure, PSS or RE-11A assuming I go with what's out there - sounds like I should just go PSS for daily-ish use and either drive them if it's puddles, or just drive slower on whatever I end up with.

I've only heard rumors that Toyo's gone pixie dust and 200TW for everyone - any rumors I've missed? I recall BFG may have an update?

I do believe I'm actually looking forward to this. With occasional glances at my budget making me wonder if I shoulda stuck with CS after all.

I've heard about BFG coming out with an update, too. Everyone I know that went to Lincoln last year said BFG rented one of the courses for testing. I've also heard about Bridgestone coming out with a new tire, the RE-71R: http://www.bridgestone.co.jp/corpora...014120802.html
