this presupposes that women are somehow less equipped to deal with these than any male driving the car.

while i understand where the sentiment may be coming from, it needs to stop. it is this attitude, conscious or unconscious, that perpetuates sexism today.
I think you're making too many assumptions and it seems you already have a predisposition on this issue regarding how men view women driving cars. He could have simply been worried about people challenging her to a race, or complimenting his mom (who want's their Mom hit on?), leading to his use of word "hassled".

But of course that is giving him the benefit of the doubt... which you are not.

Seems like this topic has got out of hand and no one reads what the OP has said.
Mom has got a different car now, end of story.

Now on the off topic discussion that has been started, based on personal experience, my mom and other women that I know of, 100% of them do not know how to park the car, and a park job is very important, so you do not have to replace bumpers and shields all the time. Now I'm not saying all women are like that, but in my experience they are.

Yeah...I think that's EXACTLY what Alita is talking about; that somehow his mom isn't capable of handling herself because she's a woman, implying that women are weak and will drop trou the second a man tells them to...or possibly get into a drag race in this case.

Reading comprehension, homie. It helps sometimes.

I would NEVER let my mom drive my car by herself. She probably try and street race it. I will never forget the time a few years ago I was going 65 on Skillman (speed limit 45) and this blue Dynasty blew past me like I was going 20. I was like that has to be my mom. I had to go up to 80 to keep up with the car and it was my mom driving. When I got to her house I was like you need to slow down!
Thank God we live in a city that really doesn't enforce traffic laws.

Many thanks.
All of this is academic, right? You don't actually own an FRS? Is that correct?

My GF drives my car to work most days and to plenty of other places. She gets way more compliments than I ever do and she says she feels like a badass driving it.

It's great to see women empowered by the 86.

Yeah need to watch out. Sooner or later they may forget how to even cook and clean! But then again that is an innate ability they are born with, so we should be OK.

They may even speak of having rights and all that non-sense!
