Ive had a few people tell me its a weird looking swastika, or it looks a bit like the 'ss lightning bolts'

I guess if you squint hard enough...? Ah well, whatever, looks like a stylized 86 to me.

Damn you! I see it now! lol

This reminded me of when I went to pick up my car. While one salesman was finishing up my paperwork inside, another was talking to me next to the car. He was telling me that emblem is really cool because it says FR-S. I just looked at him. Didn't know if he was serious. Then I explained to him about it saying 86 and the tire contact patches of a car drifiting, etc. He answered with: "I thought it was kinda weird. I couldn't see where it said FR-S on there. I just thought thats what it was supposed to say." lol

All I noticed was the 86, not even the drifting tires part. xD Though yeah, I see this badge being taken out of future models. Makes sense though since the FR-S will become it's own car with it's own heritage and won't need to cling onto the AE86 success story to sell itself. xD Something tells me Hot Lava 86-badged FR-S's will be very valuable in the future.

I've mostly been having people ask me why the pistons point away from each other

I was born in 86, I had a few family members ask me if, "I put them on there for that reason." Like as if they have the years all laid out similar to those personalized key-chains you buy at the checkout counter.

Remind them that the Japanese were the number 1 ally of Nazi Germany in WWII. Judging by todays standards of education though, he'll probably be more concerned with trying to correct you by saying the Russians were their ally.
