FRS faster than BRZ? Tell me why I should still get the BRZ.

There really isn't a way to calculate what difference it makes. In the grand scheme of things, the extra 20 lbs that you want to lose is not going to improve the car in any significant way. This is also taking into the other facts that you really can't recreate the same 0-60 launch over and over with consistency and keeping all other variables the same. Even at a drag strip, no one ever runs the same exact time every single time.

However, I think you'll see significant improvement in your health, fitness, and overall confidence. :happy0180:

The weights I gave are car+my.original.weight compared to car+my.current.weight.

So, regardless then, it sounds like there isn't a particular formula that estimates a performance gain by shedding weight, whether its the car's spare tire, or mine it sounds like.

I remember on another car forum someone said to get the pounds/hp (2762lb/200hp which rounds up to 14lbs per hp) and that gives you roughly the number of pounds to give the car of feeling of having 1 extra HP. Not sure how strongly I believe in this but just throwing it out there.

There are plenty of formulas for estimating acceleration based on hp and weight. Google 1/4 mi calculator and you should get a bunch of hits.

For example, from my first result I got:
3060 lb (2760+300), 200 crank hp = 14.5 sec ET
2960 lb (2760+200), 200 crank hp = 14.3 sec ET

Obviously these are estimates, but they can give you a feel for how much ET change you might see from a given weight change.

WTG congrats, and I love the idea of having a motivator/reminder in the car.

I like the idea of converting it to a HP figure, and yes at the end of the day what matters is hp vs weight, the easiest HP is weight reduction.

That's not entirely true. From the all the articles I've read either one or the other handles better or accelerates faster....I think it was motortrend or car and driver that recently said that the different numbers recorded by these cars are due to driver error and testing conditions. Yes the suspension set ups are different and their weight may differ a little, but the cars are basically identical physically and in terms of speed....

In case you missed it, you can see in this video the BRZ and 86 are exactly the same speed. It all just comes down to the driver.
