yeah which brings total to about 55k (conservative) for base model + mods. GG

55k is alot of money and thinking about short-long term, say 2-3 years. i believe that the price of the 86/brz in aus will drop to 35k driveaway for base. I"ll definately be spewin' IF (BIG IF) that happens.

So now im considering an 03 evo 8 (not MR) as they're about 25k now and insurance is still about 2k. but then again turbo's and petrol = $$

Unsure on what to do if all of my cost predictions of the 86 is nearly 100% accurate...

practical as in fuel efficient? less imported, lol dont worry about that. as long as its got the looks, drives nicely ( im sure it would ) and decent priced its good.

its a really hard decision. especially when i have goals to purchase a house within 3 years time. im getting to that age now, where cars shouldn't be too much of a high priority. but then again i want the 86 over an evo because its new as im not a fan and dont like the idea of having sloppy seconds LOL.

DAM YOU TOYOTA RELEASE THE PRICE ALREADY!!

i have a further thought about the reason why TMCA wouldn't release the price just yet.

i just realised that Subaru isn't launching until July/August. in which case if i'm Toyota i would only release price at the very last minute, at least until Subaru Aus has ordered stock before releasing the price so it doesn't allow Subaru to adjust price/spec to undercut 86's price.

thats true.. and a logical reason too. but we all know that subaru will charge more. its evident in the states. so no matter what i doubt subaru will sell their version under toyota's price.

its not given Subaru will sell more $$ than Toyota. it really depends on the spec.

in Japan, both prices are pretty much lineball after factoring the slight diff of equipment.

BRZ RA and R spec are a little over 86 RC and G as BRZ has HID standard but not 86. with the higher spec they are nearly identical.

FRS is cheaper than BRZ becos of the difference of the equipment. (ie. no HID/DRL, no sat nav etc)

Where did this 39990 come from in the first place??

Toyota at best hinted the base 86 will start with a 3 so Journo's smash out high 30k and now Toyota have gotten the 86 cheaper then expected from HQ and the new price is 37990 :belly roll: fukin wankers.

Cheaper then a GTi Golf, quality wise alone this has to be true but the GTi offers tonnes more class then this plastic 86 no matter how good it handles. Ands same as others have mentioned, 10k difference between high and low spec is total bullshit.

Sorry long time follower first time poster. Only found this forum by accident.

if i'm Subaru, id bring in the JDM Spec S. No nav, no leather/suede and it will slot in between the 86 low and high spec here and below the WRX.

yeah i guess so if i was subaru i'd do alot of things but they're subaru and you're you. (sorry im not having a go at you). those sources already said they'd only bring out 1 spec BRZ but then again they always talk so i guess things could change. how about this for a crazy idea: no one in australia buy a 86/BRZ until we get the price of 30k then we buy LOL.

I dont car about fuel, practical as is lower insurance due to imports, 10 year old car almost, high servicing rates and costs (as it will be regularly driven), theft problem in Sydney (Or maybe I'am just paranoid), new original parts.

yeah i understand where ur coming from now and i gurantee the 86 wont be cheap on insurance either. it'll be 2k minimum. like i mentioned before, RWD, new car, sporty. i guess if you want cheap insurance, either work for insurance company and get employee discount OR buy a corolla or yaris lol.

and yes 10 year old car is pretty old so i guess you've persuaded me to be more inclined to get the 86 now even though its gunna cost an arm and leg.

theft will be a a problem with any sports car, if i purchased the 86 i'd be very weary where i park it when i go out and whatnot. there will people out there who will be jealous and key the car etc. i guess thats one thing thats putting me off the 86 as well... since its got so much hype..

oh 86 why oh why are you so expensive. if only it was the same as the US price...

HAHAHAHA!! true but must admit 86 is nice and has alot of potential. its just the price and i mean i just want to be one of the first to own one it'd feel nice. i honestly can't wait a year or two or three to get one even if its means i'll pay less.. Thats where i tend to overspend, wonder if there's anyone else out there like me lol...
