Headlights being not leveled the same is normal, so you don't blind oncoming traffic

All the while you could have just made the cosmetic/technology upgrades on the original FRS....

OR better yet you could have just gotten a BRZ Limited initially.

To throw a number out there, anyone can correct me if I am wrong, for $4,000 you could have easily upgraded your original FRS to be even better than the 10 series in the cosmetic/technology department (especially because you have the choice of what to put. A tablet in the dash perhaps? Whatever you want!) Am I right?

Seems excessively wasteful and careless for just some minor (petty if you will) upgrades...

Good luck
Completely wrong. I briefly looked at the math when I was not so into the silver pics on the web and it would be much more than $4000 for everything not to mention all the costs in time and labor and potentially mucking stuff up. Just the lamp assemblies alone are $2-$2.5k and that's w/o the ballasts and all the hardware. Now get gear for the dual HVAC and keyless entry and you're already there if not way beyond in just parts alone w/o all the other 10 series items like the HU, mirror, trunk liner, badges and not to mention unique one-off semi-chameleon factory paint over the whole car. Plus there are only 2500 being made. All the other colors will be keep being made each year till at least 2016 if not beyond.

If you want stuff like this, your best bang/buck ratio is getting it done from the factory, never doing it yourself.

Plus the guy may have lost money on a trade-in but gained in not having to drive a car he wasn't totally happy with. Putting a price on that is subjective. Hell, unless you intend to keep every car you buy, we all lose out on depreciation when we replace a car for something else. Calling this guy out for trading the car in is like saying anyone who doesn't keep their first car forever or till it dies a moron. Think about it.

It's not like the 10 series is just adding some racing stripes and decals like other manufacturers tend to do. Most of the add-on are actually functional like they are on the BRZ and GT86. Nobody calls those cars out for being marketing bait for stupid people.

When they come out with a series or special edition that has some performance enhancements like a bump in HP, oil cooler or even a HPFP that doesn't make chirping noises... Then I might consider trading up and not just trading over for some trinkets and a paint scheme I don't like.

Congrats to the OP on his NEW car... That part I understand... :happy0180:

Thank you all for your replies, including the haters that are just secretly jealous

Regarding the question of getting out of the S4, I did really well actually, better than on the first FR-S. I fought HARD on the price of the S4 well into the hours after the stealership closed, and paid well under fair market value. Had it about a year, and sold it for only $700 less than I paid with some great pics, and lots of patience.

Question here....

Why does everyone always post about more hp..??

Really it doesn't matter what forum I'm on and for what make and model car or truck the forums is about everyone always bitches about more hp.

Sorry I just don't understand why people buy a car or truck knowing the power output posted on the window sticker but still buy the vehicle and join a forum to complain about the hp levels.

Rant over......

small penises.

There's a pervasive ego stroke mentality that comes with more power, faster 0-60, and the low edge snarl of a strong grumble exhaust that's supposed to instantly give any woman in a 50ft radius an instant orgasm.

I live in downtown Chicago next to a Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, BMW, and Audi dealership. Basically if you roll into the square and your exhaust is so loud that it turns heads or if you zoom through a block in .5 seconds with your 500hp, 0-30 in .009s, you better be rolling in a supercar. Otherwise, all the people, especially the woman pull the small penis flags that they have in their purse and throw it at you.

God forbid you rev through on a motorcycle. Might as well just not wear pants.

Good question.

I would think that after knowing the published HP and torque figures and taking a test drive ..... one would have a good feel for the "power" of a car. After break-in, it should just get better. ......

Meh, I had every intention of boosting the car since it was a concept. A well handling platform is hard to find, adding power is easy. 370z power felt great, but the seating, view, and the oxymoron of being bulky with no space was just enough to say no.

That is an accomplishment, considering the typical depreciation at that end of the market.

regardless of trading one car for the same thing in a slightly better trim.

1-2 years later... there will be a post like "wow, I'm so glad I trade my 10 series for 11 series." LOL
"better resale value, leather trim, better color, no glowing craps..."

I must admit it was a good trade for that value.
