Hell yeah Jason, glad to see your gonna make it out.
I'm bringing the canopy structure again but bring your own chairs so you have a place to sit. I bought a couple tarps to enclose 2 of the sides so we'll have good shelter. I'm arriving at 7AM to get our spot set up.

That was a great learning experience. I'm so glad we had mixed wet/dry sessions. It was the first time I've driven the car in the wet and it was much more exciting than expected.
I also learned that Potenza RE-11A wet grip is overrated. Good to know before rainy season arrives. The extra 5 minutes per session added valuable seat time. And fuel burn. I used 11.1 gals. Helmet tip to stockysnail for his tire pressure suggestions that transformed the car in the dry and to digital_assassin and others for their much anticipated pics and videos. Unfortunately, my w/s mounted Zi10 videocam seized and became a paperweight so I have nothing to post, sorry. Great seeing all of you twins enthusiasts that once again made us the best represented marque there. |

The attached video is our last two laps of the day. Robert and I are chasing down a Porsche and our friend Gary in the track prepped ZL1 Camaro (580hp) is keeping up with us. My speed entering the turn 10-12 complex is right at 80mph which is where I can catch most people. At 3:30 we get the checkered flag so don't bother watching the last 3 minutes as its just the cool down lap. Driving in the wet really helped improve my dry speeds through just about all corners.

During morning wet stints my car was hopeless. I was on tip-toes everywhere but like you said, it made me quicker and smoother in the dry afternoon sessions. In the dry, the car liked the chicane and 4-5-6 best. You definitely closed in 10-11-12 and pushed me the hardest all day to stay ahead, but you'd have had me in another lap. After the dry session tire pressure adjustment I carried so much speed out of 8 onto the back straight that I used 5th gear and top speed jumped 4-5 mph. vs. slamming into the hard shutdown rev limiter in 4th that had me coasting 100 yds. to the first distance marker entering 10. It was a bit unnerving to see the skid control light blinking at 110 mph bending around 9 in the dry, though. |

Next time I'll try shifting around 6,500RPM and see if that will bring my speeds up in the straights. My lap timer is telling me I was consistently hitting 109 on the back straight and 106 on the front. I never even thought about it until you mentioned it was helping you Robert but when my car was on the Dyno it really wasn't making any more power above 6.5K so might as well take it easy on the motor and take it into 5th gear. I'd be happy if I can break 112 in the back section. I think another key to this is nailing the cone on turn 7 and squeezing a little more speed out of that turn.
Once I got behind you Robert you really took it up a few notches! Tire pressures in the last session made a huge difference in your cars handling.

I was shifting at 7,200 rpm, it felt like it was pulling pretty well all the way. Also, due to slightly (1.8%) larger diameter tires, my true back straight speed was 112 mph vs. 110 indicated.
Maybe the difference in acceleration rate is due to your possibly heavier wheel/tire setup? Not that mine are light with 20 lb. stock wheels and 26 lb. Potenzas. Also, I'm running the TRD CAI and lighter unresonated Perrin catback. Last edited by torqdork; 09-07-2013 at 02:07 PM. |

My wheels and tires are a few pounds lighter than yours.
Advan RSII 18X8.5 et35 (17.5lbs) / 18X9.5 et42 (18.25lbs) Michelin Pilot Super Sports: Front 225/40/18 (22lbs) - Rear 255/35/18 (25lbs) I think I still may have an issue with my Perrin tune. You were definitely accelerating faster than me which tells me I'm still having a problem with my tune in that power is not generated above 6.5K. I also have Perrin CAI and Nameless header back exhaust. Shouldn't be getting out gunned in the straights but you definitely had me.

I just checked and my tire size is 26 lbs. Yeah, must be something up with your tune or maybe the intake? I've always wondered if the restrictive looking bends in the Perrin CAI affect top end compared to the straight shot TRD CAI.
OK, going to wash her up now. Hopefully the Carbotech dust rinses off while still fresh. |
