What kills you are people moving over from two lanes over; having your mirrors set so you can see the lane to your left and a sliver of the far left lane is more helpful than trying to eliminate a blindspot that you'll have to shoulder check for anyway.

Want to see a big ass blind spot? I don't have an inside rear-view mirror or a rear window! Compared to the Exige, the BRZ is practically a look-out post for rearward visibility.

^^This guy know's where it's at I had a 3rd and currently drive a 5th gen, so ya, HUGE diff.

Anywho, I'm always concerned with new-school A-pillars, cuz I always miss pedestrians when they cross the road, especially in parking lots. The A-pillars in this car are so big that I'll prolly miss a fat lady crossing the street, or even an old person pushing a shopping cart. Scary, right? Other than that, I guess it's not Sooooo bad, right?

Other than converts/roadsters, which have worse issues when the tops are up, my Integra GS-R had one of the best, if not the best, outward visibility ever!

This. Switching lanes in my MR-S with top up was like playing Russian Roulette. Made convex mirrors a necessity.

Angle the side mirrors correctly, it helps a lot and most people do it wrong. If you can see the side of your car in your side mirrors they are angled to far in. They should actually be angled out wider, into your ''blind spot'' as the EPA recommends. You will then be able to follow a car from your rear view mirror, into your side mirrors and then into your sight (with a slight head turn). If you still have a blind spot get a wide-angle clip on for the rear view mirror and small adhesive convex mirrors for the side mirrors. You will not have a blind spot after all this.

^Good suggestions there. I believe wide angle clip-on rear view mirrors are technically illegal but people always get away with them just like clear side markers. I tried using one but the reflected image was too hazy/fuzzy compared to stock. I got it as a [probably cheap from Chinatown] gift.

Broadway mirrors lol. So ricey! I remember I bought one in high school, and returned it the same day because it did NOTHING but get in the way of me pulling my sunvisor down lol. I'd like one of those rear view mirrors though, that spans across your entire windshield haha.

But ya, side/rear view isnt too big a deal cuz you can use the mirrors for that. But mirrors dont solve the issue of running down a granny in the parking lot ;(

It's probably just marketing, but here is some insight from Subaru Japan

http://www.subaru.jp/brz/brz/performance/safety/

Towards the bottom of the page, translated by Google Chrome:

Excellent field of vision seems to SUBARU

SUBARU is considered good visibility, and some important underlying element of driving fun. Streamline and optimize the angle of the front pillar, due to the adoption of a glass partition, ensure good driving visibility. It also has to devise the structure of the high-mounted stop lamp in order to obtain better rearward visibility.

Yea, what they said.

It wasn't that bad when I drove it

I'd say it was more of a "blind sliver" than a gaping area that you couldn't see. And if you adjusted your mirrors per the SAE specifications it would probably take care of that.

In CA you can buy large flat or convex rear view mirrors at most auto stores for about 15 bucks. They are great and I dont care how they look, safety is important.

I'm just going to train my dog to look out the window and bark if there's something there.
