Lower and leaner than its predecessor, this third generation Mazda3 shares almost nothing with its older siblings other than a name. All new from the ground up, the 2014 Mazda3 sits on a wheelbase of 106.3 inches, which is 2.4 inches longer than the previous generation, yet the hatchback is 1.8 inches shorter in length at 175.6 inches. That's 16 inches shorter than the Accord, for reference.

Let's do some comparisons:
![]() ![]() ![]() I think we both are wrong. ![]() And now, upon closer inspection I think the BRZ more closely resembles the front of the current MAZDA 3. Oh my GAWD I love SMILING!!!! ![]() ![]()

I have to admit I finally love the front end of the mazda 3. The last 2 generations was very simple looking for the 1st one and very smiley and stupid looking for the 2nd generation. This looks more sports car-ish and aggressive! I happen to even like it more than the BRZ's front end. What Mazda needs to do is make a MX8 with a medium sized sports car body, RWD, MS3 powerplant, RX8 suspension, and the new Kodo styling in one. I think that would be the best car under 30k! Pretty much a RX8 with the turbo inline 4 for 28k base!

I emailed them about using the RX-8 chassis for a piston version and they gave me a spiel about being committed to the Rotary. I know they still make rotaries for special hydrogen fueled RX-8s but that doesn't interest me in the least. What we see is the best Mazda is offering at the moment. |

I think the rotary was probably a more pricier engine than the MS3 engine. I would think a rare engine would be more pricier than a mass produced engine. The only big difference would be the engine and the RX8 started at 26.5k
