Honestly you have an easy 3-4 seconds in your lap time. Take a look at this video, stock hp, tires, brakes, and suspension only (2:17 VIR). See if you can tell where you're loosing time. Let me know if you want some tips or you can tell me to leave you alone ![]() [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOBbgnrSG8w"]Element Tuning 2012 Ultimate Track Car Challenge - YouTube[/ame] Thanks, Phil Grabow |

![]() I feel I had turns 1-4 down pretty well, but I'm pretty sure I should be able to take 5 & 6 flat out, which I wasn't quite doing. Also, with the second part of turn 5 heading in to the snake, I was turning in too early and catching more curbing than I should have. After that, I need to work on carrying more speed through the Esses. I believe that's another area that can be taken flat out in an NA car with decent tires. I was slowly working on carrying more and more speed throughout the event, but I think I topped out entering around 110 and exiting the Esses at 101-102. Then there's the corner formerly known as Oak Tree, which when comparing my video to Skeen's, I lost nearly a second of the advantage I had gained on him through turns 1-6. I was also still working on getting my braking point down for heading into Roller Coaster coming off the back straight. I often found myself having to ease up on the brakes so that I wouldn't slow down too much there. Finally, I'm pretty sure I could have been getting on the gas earlier taking the right hander into Hogpen. My instructor who, to be fair, was in a lighter less powerful spec Miata with R-comps seemed to get on the throttle through there incredibly early compared to me. I get bored at work so I end up watching my own footage to try and see where I can get faster. Have to wait til November to see if I can put any of it into practice. |

If I had to pick it apart I think your line through turn 1 is more like what we use in a high power car. I think you go deeper braking into 1, enter faster (by not hugging the inside) and start opening up the steering sooner so you can go WOT on the throttle. You basically are trying to scrub less to pick up speed. 2-4 look really good. When I exit 4 I'm WOT through the right hander at 5 and I don't lift until my entry into 9. It gets a little dicey and you have to keep remembering to open that steering wheel up to reduce scrubbing. I can hear you lift on the entry to 5, and between 5-6. I can hear you lifting in the climbing esses (can't blame you). Your line is good through there, the setup and exit for 10 is good, and your entry into Oak Tree is great also. Your braking on the back straight is decent as it looks like you don't lift until marker 1. I'm going a little deeper than you as you can use that hill for extra braking while braking but as you brake, take the angle that makes you do straight to the apex of the Roller Coaster right. This way if you mess up you're not heading for the trees. Also if you are turning too much and braking as you crest the hill the chassis can get dicey. You look really good through the Roller Coasters but you're giving up a lot of time with your entry into 15. The entry to 15 is critical because that's where you start setting up for your exit onto the front straight. You are taking a late apex into 15 so you end up having to turn more entering Hog Pen. Dive to the inside of 15 and take a lot curbing and this will have the car much straighter as you enter Hog Pen allowing you to carry more speed onto the front straight. If you sync the videos at the start/finish line (open another browser window) it will help you see where the differences are made. From the start line to Oak Tree I'm +5 seconds (I gained time braking into turn 1 and pulled away from never lifting from 4-9), from Oak Tree to 15, I'm 7 seconds ahead (so maybe a little better exit speed at Oak Tree and then braking later), and at the finish line I'm 8 seconds ahead (from a more aggressive line at 15). Overall I think your lap look really good! Now on my car ditching the rear sway bar gained me +2 seconds a lap! It just allowed me to get on the gas sooner and harder. Depending on how stiff your springs are you may not be able to get away with it however. Hope it helps. Phil Grabow |

NA Summit Point Motorsports Park (Shenandoah) / 1:44:20 / Josh Adams / Oct. 6, 2013 / Ohlins Road and Track, Essex AP Racing Sprint BBK, Ferodo DS-Uno/DS-2500, Crawford Performance AOS, K&N Filter, Dunlop Z2 235R40
[ame]http://youtu.be/NTgvKn2zVeg[/ame] First time at Shenandoah and first time in the more advanced Yellow group with TrackDaze (pass anywhere, but with a point by). If there was every a track that matched the strengths of the FR-S/BRZ, I think its this one. Really tight track with lots of turns. I was actually getting some blisters on my hands for working the steering wheel so hard. It is also a really tricky track. The track is paved in such a way that there is a crest in the middle, so you will have slight positive camber on one side and slight negative on the other. Can make for some very interesting moments, like it did this last weekend. There were 4 or 5 cars that wrecked and had pretty serious damage. All drivers were okay though. |

I set what I believe is the FRS/BRZ NA and Turbo records for the track. Both fastest laps are shown in the video. [ame]http://youtu.be/q2te3kT71c0[/ame] Virginia International Raceway (Grand Course) / 3:11:09 / Josh Adams / Nov 12, 2013 / Ohlins Road and Track, Essex AP Racing Sprint BBK, Ferodo DS-Uno/DS-2500, K&N Drop In Filter, Crawford Performance AOS, Dunlop Z2 235R40 [ame]http://youtu.be/n5V93tXyiSM[/ame] Was able to make another trip to VIR for my last event of the year and was able to pick up some pace as well. Was trying to get down to a 2:20 on Full course, but between lack of sessions (only had 1 complete session, the first of the day, there were several wrecks, including a BRZ) and still not quite having the balls to go flat out up the Esses I didn't quite make it. Grand Course was a lot of fun and let me claw back some pace compared to the much more powerful cars I was running with. Car & Driver took a stock BRZ around Grand Course in 3:18.6 so I'm pretty happy with my time there. [ame]http://youtu.be/BYwLLxU3_J4[/ame] |
