Agreed, But I highly doubt Hyundai will try hit us up with a $50k pricetag, or even $40k.. I do not expect it to be $25k, I was exaggerating a little :P

I'd say 35-40k the genesis would be. MX5 has no right to be as expensive as it is either, so toyota or hyundai won't undercut themselves :/
MX5 is only 25k in the US as well.
Gah :P
Out of interest, Mark, have you ever had a ca18 180sx drift car and a v8 supercar?

Genesis will be at least $40k+ becos the Veloster is selling between $25k and $32k then the Veloster Turbo will be a few grands on top. if Genesis is below $40k then they will overlap.

True! stepping out of topic for a bit. My cousin working in Ford/Kia (pretty much Hyundai) said that Veloster will have twin scroll turbo or was it a super charger and a turbo (i'd always thought you can't have both together)....not sure (i'm no mechanic like my cousin), anyways....

He said that one will boost during take off and the other will kick in during the long run. So if you're after speed this is a pocket rocket! I'm just taking a stab in the dark not sure if its true or not.

not sure what engine the Turbo Veloster will have but VW has an engine that has both a turbo and supercharged. it's on a few Golf and the Polo GTI.

twin scroll is a turbo setup that has 2 cylinder pairs feeding 2 different turbine wheels to assist in better spool.

twin charging is the use of a turbo and a super charger at the same time. the SC is set to low boost and obviously operates all the time, while the turbo is set to spool up later on and provide high end power.

Twin turbo is either twin or sequential - twin being identical (commonly in V6/8 setups, 2 small turbos fed by each half of the engine) and sequential is one small one for low range boost and then a large for higher end boost.

Alright, now back to depositing money and what not. I got my deposit in and had an awesome chat with the dealer, very friendly fellow tells me what ever he knows about the 86 for Sydney.

He said that the GTS or high spec model would be max price 45K probably slightly less, but first orders are always pricey to begin with, they will arrive around July/August. Sydney has ordered 3 demo cars (test drivable). One in Glaicer White (pearl white) metalic black and i think he said a red or was burnt orange coloured one....anyways they demos arrive early June, so obviously I'll shotgun up there as soon as he gives me the signal that his got one ready for me to test out.

Till then I'll just keep dreaming about it and seeing if i will make a deal or no deal when the price arrives which is in April/May.

Just put down a deposit too. Still at the dealer waiting for the receipt....

Was hoping for the black/red interior but no luck.

Why no luck on the black/red interior?

Which dealer?

Half right/half wrong, Twin scroll turbos still use one common exhaust wheel, but you are right about them having separate entries for different cylinders (ie split pulse).

The "internal material" only listed black interior for both low and high spec.

This. Like tuned headers have optimization for scavenge, twin scroll has optimization not to back feed
Also with twin charging, on OEM applications the supercharger disconnects when turbo is fully spooled, and the air is rerouted over it.
When you have two turbos in series feeding one another (staged) the comp multiplies. But rarely used on cars

Is that plus on roads, or drive away?
