I had a friend that was wondering what the minimum tread requirement was to pass inspection?

Separately any recommendations on tire pressure for such an event? Not sure if you want to be on the high side, so you have stiffer sidewalls.

i think the tire pressure is personal preference to a certain point really.

Buddy has a Nolan n60 motorcycle helmet that I can borrow. Would that suffice? I couldn't find a snell sticker on it , but it does seem to be dot certified.

It must have the Snell 2005 M or SA label on it to be valid and must be a full face helmet. The NJSP will likely be there checking them.

Looks like I may need to buy one

All my bike friends only have dot or m2000 ones.

Looking around it seems like most only carry m2010 or sa2010 certified helmets. Would that work?

It's doubtful you'll find a 2005 unless a place is clearing out old stock and you will only be able to use it for a couple of more years. 2010 are the latest ones. The number is the year of the safety standard that the helmet meets BTW.

I just bought a used HJC cl-16 helmet for $70 used off craigslist. It's rated snell m2010. You could probably find it for about $80-85 on ebay.

Yes Snell M2005 or M2010 or SA2005 or SA2010 are all valid ratings for using in HPDE/Autox.

Just bite the bullet and bought the same helmet new.
$100 @ motorcyclegear.com.

Pretty good deal for a noob. Most of the other helmets cost a lot more with the Snell rating.
