Greetings,

First post ever- haven't been on a car forum and haven't been into cars in 10+ years (had a hybrid EG in the '90s and an SR'ed S13 right after that; then retired from all the car shizz and been in the city ever since). But, this new FRS/BRZ has resurrected my car interests again and defo struck a new fancy in me...Anyways lol....

Very interested in these wheels.

I notice on the Rota website, they are available in:
17x8, 5x100, +5
17x8.5, 5x100, +10

I know they sound super aggressive for an 86 fit; but very similar size/offset-equivalencies have been proven to work on the frs/brz with no problems in the past...namely:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17083
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46815
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36319
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37848
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38410
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11258
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7533
(which all of these come very close and are very similar to a 17x8 +5 or 17x8.5 +10 (check online offset/size calculators))

I think a 17x8 +5 or 17x8.5 +10 are perfect for those that want a more aggressive and flusher fit than the more typical and conservative 17x9 +35 to +44 wheels.

Couple questions:
~ Are these already being produced and/or are the "molds" already in existence/made?
~ Can't seem to find anyone online that stocks these sizes for purchase. Anyone know where to get them? (I am moving back to SoCal soon).
~ If these aren't available/in-stock anywhere, and if these molds already exist, can Rota make a set "to order" from these molds? Or, will it have to be some kind of group buy or huge order, in order to make new wheels and fire up the Kiln?
~ Colors available?
~ I assume no one has tried these on their 86 yet.. but wanted to know just in case anyone has tried these yet?

Peace

Fyi: Tommy from wheeldude says:
"It would need to be special ordered in those sizes, which would require a minimum order of 3 sets before it can be made."

Doesn't sound unreasonable at all. Just need to find 2 other people that are down to buy these low-offset wheels ..which may be unlikely though I admit :/ ...given the ballsy offsets and finding more people as crazy as me

I would easily choose = 17x8.5 +10

Here are more samples of the RKR's with similarly equivalent offset/width size..just to give you an idea of spoke depth, lip size, concavity, etc.

Wheeldude needs a confirmed order of only 3 sets, to have these freshly made to order (special order) from Rota. If you are interested, feel free to contact Wheeldude and maybe everyone can get it organized.

17x8.5 et10

15x8 et10 (5mm less poke than the wheels in discussion - 17x8 et5/17x8.5 et10)

17x8.5 et10 (front wheels)

15x8 et0 (5mm more poke than the wheels in discussion - 17x8 et5 / 17x8.5 et10)

@Wheeldude, your inbox is full. Wondering if anything ever came of a 17" production run on these. I'd definitely be interested.

Ebay user "wheelbay" told me he can get these special 8.5" et10 or 8" et5, 5x100, RKRs on back-order and it'll take 1-2 months to get them. So, what it sounds like, there's no need for a groupbuy for these 5x100 RKRs through them I guess, unlike wheeldude. Might want to message him to make sure he can really/actually get Rota to make/send them. I'd love to finally see these low offset RKRs on an FRS ...If they were easy/instant to get and readily available, I'd most likely get them over my current primary wheel choices - RPF1 & 57DR.. it's jus that dang watanabe look with a lip is just too dang classic and sexy to pass up ...and because racecar!

Offset is too crazy for me and the 8.5" width is too much. I have no plans to go over a 215mm wide tire as I enjoy the playfullness of the vehicle with that size tire. 17x8 with a 35-40mm offset would be what I would be interested in doing. I love the way the 18 wheel looks but a. way too heavy and b. the roads where I live are awful. Nothing against Rota quality but these roads would eat an 18" cast wheel alive.

I emailed another Rota vendor about 17" RKR in magnesium black availability and they alluded to the fact that there might be a production run of 17" RKRs in 2-3 months. I asked for specifics, offset, etc and I'm waiting to hear back. I'll update this thread as I hear more since the OP seems to have bailed.

Nice!!!

For 5x100 yes?

Who's the vendor?

Crossing my fingers it will be a low-offset and not no et45 jive.

The available/listed, 8" et5 or 8.5" et10, on their website would be perfect for an aggressive setup (very similar poke/stance to a 9" et25 to et30; which has been done successfully many many times already). If not, then a 9" et35 (but that size isn't listed).

My decision and top 3 choices for wheels are RPF1, 57DR and these RKR. RKR is of course, fake...but I don't even care at this point - they just look soooo sexy (not to mention, Real watanabes don't come in 5x100 nor 17" in a low offset and prolly will never make it)
