I don't think the technology currently exists to triangulate the exact location of the source of a radar, especially not with 2 antennas spaced only about 3 inches apart.

The thing is radar detection is just really basic, and apparently expensive enough to begin with. Too add on anything else would increase the cost and I'm not sure you could really enhance the capability much.
Actually at CES garmin was considering adding radar detectors to future GPS models, so hey, maybe it can happen in the near future...

I've learned to just use the best detectors I have available to me.....

I've always thought detectors were a waste of money. But, do what you like, folks. It's your money.

Actually your eyes are probably one of the worst detectors since they can not see through objects or around bends you will have significantly more false alerts. But you get what you pay for.

You can see radar? Well if you admitted that you can hear the signals I would just call you a dolphin.

It's been seven years since I last got a speeding ticket. I actually have a detector hardwired in my M3 (previous owner), but I disconnected it because it was giving me a false sense of security. I found myself becoming less attentive. Obviously this doesn't happen to everyone, but I'm a better driver without a radar detector.

Good Radar Detector?

So I got a speeding ticket the other day. I am usually pretty good about keeping an eye out and I know a lot of the traps/hotspots in my area, but I was on my way to work, tired, not paying attention, etc.

Anyway, I doubt I'll be driving my fr-s slower than my Camry... So I'm considering investing in a radar detector to avoid future incidents.

What do you guys recommend? I was thinking about a beltronic v955 or 995. I don't need the best thing on the market but I would like something pretty reliable for someone that likes to cruise on the highway in the 80-90 mph range.

Also, what is your experiance with detectors? Do they work well? Thanks in advance.

Running a V955 here for a couple of weeks. It's picked up a couple of CHP units before I saw them. Not sure how it compares to other comparably priced or more expensive units.

Just posted some photos in this: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...393#post296393 thread on my install.

In this highly development society, everybody wants to live in a safety condition. But now lots of people are still worrying about that their privacy and important information may steal by others by installing or using some kind of equipments. If so there must be some methods to help improve the situation, so people come up with the invention of the radio frequency detector to solve the problem.

After years of owning radar detectors, I've given up on them. I owned an Escort 8500, and a Valentine V1 and rarely ever needed to utilize the information on both. If you're going for a long distance drive, you just need to understand police setting speed traps up are targeting. If you're going 20+ mph in the passing lane with no one in sight you're just begging to be pulled over.

It may have to do where the state I live in mostly uses laser now, so knowing you've been hit (if it happens) is way too late of a notification. Not having any electronics to depend on will make you a far more aware driver.
