I beg to differ.
I owned a 92 blk NSX with a tan interior for a couple of years. My BRZ is the first 'sports' car I've had since the nsx. On my first BRZ drive around the neighborhood after it came off the truck, the sharp handling reminded me so much of my beloved NSX that a whole bunch of fond memories returned. I'll just summarized the pros and cons: - BRZ/FRS far easier to maintain, cost, front vs mid mounts - BRZ/FRS has more room, rear seats, e.g. - NSX's driving position, interior, low dashboard layout is almost supreme - NSX's passenger has less leg room due to the subwoofer - NSX's high speed handling is outstanding, the car's limits were much higher than mine - NSX don't have HID, BT, nav, aux input, heated seats e.g. - NSX's power is ok, an M3 would kick its arse but it will kick the BRZ/FRS's arse - NSX's rears tires would go out in 15k or less miles - NSX is handmade and is largely aluminiam so expect soft handmade panel finishes e.g. Oh yeah, I was constantly scrapping the NSX's front-end. My vote: swap the NSX for a BRZ Limited ! Last edited by bdbx18; 02-04-2013 at 05:26 PM. |

When I was in college (which now that I think about it was more than a decade ago), one guy in my fraternity had an NSX and somehow was the one who paid for it (as before I really knew him, I assumed he was just a trust fund baby who didn't have to work), and he used to always talk about how much of a pain the maintenance was and how it went through rear tires pretty quickly. So I have an idea of what you have to deal with, which is pretty significant since the maintenance is still expensive while a lot more cars today are easier to maintain while being fairly close in performance. |

No way I love the NSX. I considered picking one up that I saw around here for 25k but meeting the owner made me steer clear
NSX is deff one of those cars that I believe will go up in value as time goes on

Honestly if someone offered me their NSX id be pretty flattered at first. then id think about things like maintenance and my warranty and the overall feel of what a new car brings.... security. Then id wonder why said guy wants to trade... then Id politely say, no thanks.

Not only that, but I actually see a lot of NSXs on the road still. In Newport Beach, there's this older guy who DDs an NSX... and it's NICE. I see the guy driving his almost every day.

For those of you that's wondering, we have an MDX for family hauling; which the wife drives.
I think it's the fact that I use the NSX as a daily driver that I lost appreciation for what it is. It doesn't feel as special to me as it may to some of you. Because it was made to be driven fast and at the limit, it's very rough in traffics. And because it is an old car, every new noise I hear worries me. Maybe I should get a daily driver and drive the NSX once/week to see if I can appreciate it again. The FRS/BRZ interest me because I think can get almost the same driving experience as the NSX, but with newer parts, modern tech, and lower maint. cost(warranty), and a peace of mind. SOme of you will say, but it's a classic. Yes, i know it is. I know the car's history, it's development, and what it stand for. But I think I'm at a point where I just want a different experience. For all we know the FRS/BRZ may go down as classics. Now i may regret letting the X go, but at the end of the day we live to try new things. I came on here for real owner's opinions and thoughts and I thank everyone for chipping in. Until I test drive the twin, i still have the X...

Anything else about the BRZ you want to know? Specifically the Limited as that's really the only I have experience with. |

Pick up the BRZ/FR-S and hold on to the NSX for a few months at least so you can get used to the new car, then decide whether to garage the NSX or pass it on. Either way it sounds like you need a new car.

I have a late model nsx, and plan on buying a BRZ as well. I just test drove an FRS and was a bit disappointed by the lack of power. But I'm okay with it since it will be my daily driver. I'm actually thinking it's a bit silly for me to own two cars that are so similar!
Considering you have a baby on the way, I don't know how you will manage with just an NSX. If you eventually put the kid in daycare, you will need a different car unless your wife is going to pickup/dropoff the kid everyday. There is no airbag disabling feature on the NSX, so your only option is to do a custom electronic bypass of it.(not sure how safe that is) I have a WRX wagon and old Supra as my current DDs. Aside from the clutch and timing belt, the repair costs are so minimal on the NSX. That this point, a NSX in good condition is no longer depreciating either. Anyone who thinks the NSX is expensive to maintain has never owned a Porsche or Fcar. |
