If his camera doesn't work then the software on the memory card won't do him any good - those files are simply there so you can install them on your desktop computer.

I would recommend he contact BlackVue to see if they can send him the English firmware version 1.003 since they haven't published that on their site yet. None of us can send him that since we don't have it in file format, it's already flashed on the camera.

Well that lasted for half a year... Unit refuses to power on anymore. Time to play the warranty game. Maybe I'll just look into one of the higher quality cameras that use the Sony Exmor R lens.

EDIT: Looks like it's a wiring issue somewhere. I just tested the camera against an external 12 volt power supply and it's working. Might be a fuse blown somewhere.

EDIT2: Yep, blown fuse on the power cord. It's one of those inline glass ones that go into the cigarette lighter plug thing. Didn't look blown to me, but when I replaced it, everything worked again. Wonder what caused it to blow in the first place...

So is the Blackvue itself loading the Conficker worm onto SD cards, or are the SD cards themselves being shipped with the virus on it?

Also re: reverse camera chat -- maybe someone should come up with a passthrough for a backup camera that automatically saves footage to a storage medium on a loop. Does something like that exist already?

No, the malware was on the included SD Card, not part of the stored system image.
