I suppose my meanings are misunderstood. I am proud to own the Suby. I paid the extra money to get the features I wanted, and I feel like it was a good decision. It isn't a brand thing, but more of a trim level thing. I bought the Limited model.
Getting the Scion pretty much means you have the lowest end model, which appeals to a lot of people out there. But I wish they offered the higher model GT86 over here as well, to appease those who want the higher end spec of the car. I have always thought of the Scion brand as being a cool brand. But they have never stood out to be performance minded. I've always wanted a subaru WRX, as it appealed to me then. The BRZ appeals to me now, and that's why I'm glad I own the Subaru over the Scion. Not because of the brand name, but somehow because it fulfills a youth fantasy I always had. But I also prefer the looks and features the suby has. |

I'm the opposite, for the few differences I prefer the look of the Scion, especially the front fascia. I will definitely concede the Subaru is a more "mature" package whereas the Scion gets you in cheaper and also will be the most track friendly in that you get "the car" but not the non-performance related features for your money.

I'll admit, I'm not a huge fan of Scion. It would not stop me from buying an FRS, though. Granted, I'd put Toyota badges on it because they just look better. But, I plan to buy a BRZ and have my reasons. The features available on the BRZ limited are worth the extra cost for me. Yes, I like the FRS front bumper and rear spoiler better, but not enough to give up HIDs, navi, leather, auto climate, and the keyless entry/start puts the icing on the cake for me. This is going to be my only car and I want to keep it for a long time. I don't want to hack it up adding my own features - I'd rather have them OEM and under warranty. If all this stuff was available on the FRS, I'd be buying a Scion. Different strokes for different folks.

I am also using this vehicle to learn how to use a wrench. Circumstances over the years were never quite right for me to learn how to work on cars. It's the start of a new hobby. So, properly installing mods is part of the enjoyment for me. If I feel the need for a more sophistocated package down the road I will worry about it then. There is more to this car than just driving it for me. I hope to enjoy the fruit of my labour eventually at track events.

Although Toyota had the idea and design, without Subaru the FRS would just be a piece of static automotive art.

Or they could of used Subaru as a manufacturer without giving them credit lol but that won't be financially sound. Without Toyota, the BRZ would just look like a boxy out of date looking machine. |

Partially. Look at page one for the break down.
Pagani Huayra (Mercedes Engine) and the Lotus Elise (Toyota Celica) were using different manufacturer engines. It all boils down to the design and who proposed it. The winner goes to Toyota. Subaru just end up being the slave. Like how China/Taiwan/Foxconn is to Apple etc. lol |

Also, you obviously know nothing about the BRZ. Not sure where you got your $24 and 27k numbers(unless you are referring to the limited). The Scion does sell for about $24k but I paid about $25,500 for my BRZ. $1500 extra for navigation in itself is a decent deal, but you also get HID's and better suspension on top of a few other little odds and ends for what I want to do. It's not just cosmetic although the scion bumper is pretty awful.
