Hi all..... noticed about this toyota-subaru car sometime back... so decide to check more on the web and happen to notice this forum.... read on the carbuyer on this ride as well... hope the price would be more affordable, since it is a NA car......

Latest update: the number of CAT B COEs available for bidding in the next six months starting February will be cut from 706 to 699 per month, adding further pressure on existing sky-high premiums. It appears to me now SGD200,000 might be way too optimistic. It's a dog-gone scenario.

Mebbe there's still light at the end of the tunnel. Quote from CNA "LTA said the next COE quota announcement for the COE bidding period from August 2012 to January 2013 will be made in July 2012". That's when GT86 will be arriving & hopefully LTA will increase quota for CAT B then

Alternatively, plump for the 1.6-liter, 136hp Hyundai Veloster coupe which is rumored to hit town in March '12 at a wallet-friendly S$120,000.
Turbocharged, 201 hp Veloster 1.6 (photo) will arrive later in the year; prices are unconfirmed yet but should match Volkswagen's 160hp, entry-level model Scirocco 1.4 TSI's pricing of S$160,000 or there round about. Hyundai's new six-speed dual clutch 'box is standard across the range. All told, blown Velo is lotsa bang for your bucks! ![]()

Base model Veloster has a rival in the form of '12 Suzuki Swift Sport (photo).
Tipping the scale at a featherlight 1,100kg, Swift Sport gets a new naturally-aspirated, 134hp 1.6-liter mill. Given Suzuki's newfound flair in chassis tuning, the sporty sub-compact hatch should out-handle its Korean rival. Prices per current models. Expect a September '12 launch date. You see, unless you are a hardcore drifter, the S$200k, 2.0-liter 197hp GT86/BRZ is increasingly difficult to justify. Just saying...

And then there is the 2012 Renault Megane RS265 coupe (photo) arriving in mid-2012. Boasting 265hp from its turbocharged 2-liter lump, Wearnes Automotive will be asking S$180,000 for the most powerful Megane built to date.

hyundai's veloster should be considered as a hatchback, but do not expect its power to be like ft86.... =)

I think if 120k for the veloster not really worth it leh. Cos if I add a bit more, can get a 2.0L Honda civic. But looks wise, the veloster wins.
Anyone got any latest update/rumours from BM? |

anyway... i feel that the FT86 or BRZ without TC is really a waste, they should have an option for TC... but i believe with the light weight, this ride is somebody.....

Hi I'm from Australia and I don't understand why it's so expensive for you guys to buy cars in Singapore.
I've been to Singapore about 6 months ago for a holliday. And you guys have crazy nice cars ![]() Is it to do with pollution, environment standards or is the government trying to screw the people. Here in oz the car may cost about $40,000* AUD + $2500 to insure, regostration, stamp duty. TOTAL $42,500AUD on the road !! *Car cost is a gestimate. |
