I doubt that said datalogger keeps the record of an 'incident' forever. It's probably erased after the car gets up to a certain speed after the 'incident'.

seriously i always drive with everything off TCS off VSC off holding button for 5 seconds. i still have yet to get her to over steer. but like most track people i know when to brake and when to let off the brakes aswell as how much or how little amount of pedal i need to maintain speed through a corner and how to apply said throttle. foot work is key to driving a light weight rear drive front engine car

Common problem in all cars when there is a issue with the caliper leaking fluid...

Now if the conditions of the road were "dry" and your tires are "good" (at least 4/32) left) there is no 25-30 mph turn your car can't handle at 25-30 mph, if it was bad conditions and your rear tires hit a slick patch then it makes perfect sense what you described.
only way this would float water is if he went that speed through one of the hairpins by my house. they are literally 180 degrees hairpins even i cant take them much quicker than 26-32 ish they are just that small and tight.

but no mention to hairpin corners.

Actually, he's correct. It records based on specific events (CELs, probably airbag/collision sensors, etc). It's been awhile since I've read the manual but it's spelled out in there.

I hope you too wwaayyyy more pics than that you are talking lawsuit. Need to see some of the leaking caliper - it looks dry there. It should have been all over the wheel, brake fluid makes a mess! You will need some of the scene too with the car.

You will need to PROVE speed - get black box data.
you will need to PROVE caliper failure - get repair order stating caliper was failed not due to damage.

Right now, I would say you turned ESP/TRAC off, tried to drift the corner and lost it. Most amatuers lose it at the end of a drift when the car whips back around. The transition is the hard part.

Lesson learned. No wonder insurance is so high on these!

Yeah, I was wondering about this, if tools were crashing them and our rates would go up.

That statement is so irrelevant, the kid claimed he had "no brakes" for crying out loud. If you were leaking brake fluid at the track who knows what would happen.... Still trying to see this situation play out though so enough with the "I can do this and you suck" things.

He claims no brakes, but everything points to driving past abilities and wrecking. Simple.

20 years of driving without a single ticket or accident, and my insurance on this car is more than any I have ever owned albiet being the slowest and least expensive. That would tell me there are more of these kids doing this.

man people who think that they have more experience because they are older really grind my gears, just because you have been driving for that long does not make you an expert, it means that you have been lucky. My insurense went up like 20-30 dollars when i went from a Nissan to this car , and to be honest this is my first incident in the couple years that i have been driving.

on the insurance note.. my insurance went up 27$ from my 02 nissan xterra.. and according to the state farm agent, one of the three categories went down a bit.. i think it was bodily injury though lol

Part of it is luck, sure. Part of it is simply not pushing it on the street and being aware of your surroundings.

The BRZ is more expensive (by a large margin) to insure than an NSX, M3, S2000, ITR, etc. The FR-S, at least for me, is even higher. These things are based on the brands history partly and so far we've seen a whole bunch of wrecked cars in the past 6 months so I highly doubt that rate will be dropping anytime soon

Why on earth would you drive with everything off if you never drive hard enough for some oversteer (or understeer) I don't see the point.
If you have never made you car oversteer you certainly drive it nice and slow in the corners. Especially in wet conditions.
No need to turn of a safety system that is far superior stabilizing a car in a sudden emergency situation compared to you who only have a brake pedal that works on all wheels at the same time. Especially stupid to always turn of the system if its not even in the way of your daily driving.

Really? Dang. Mine went down from my 08 eclipse GT. Almost as cheap as my 98 tiburon... I'm 20 with no accidents or tickets? Hmm. Insurance never makes sense... except... I 100% agree with you and am scared of rates going up on me for other peoples stupidity. -.-
