Eh those Motortrend ones still look really Camaroish. I think the current styling is rather good.

I like the current styling too, and I feel most people would agree its a good looking car. That is why I think Motortrend's renderings are the closest to accurate.

The only part I think is "Camaroish" is the taillights, which I am not a fan of at all.

I'm pumped. I cannot freaking wait to see the C7. Unless the General does something stupid with the car like lock the PCM or make it leaps and bounds harder to slip a cam in, I will beg, borrow, and steal (but mostly save my damned pennies) to put a halo C7, whatever that will be called, in my garage.

If not, C6ZR1s are starting to come down in price. Just saw an 09 loaded ZR1 sell for 83k with 1100 miles. In a couple of years, those will be BMW 5er prices.

You can already get a c6Z06 for low 40s with low mileage

I wouldn't get a pre-08 though. Updated steering ftw.

Also, LS7 valve guide wear. Take some of those pennies you saved and ship your heads out to get bronze exhaust valve guides. And then cam to your hearts content.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette to debut at Detroit Auto Show, start production in Q3 2013

Quote:
he next-generation Chevrolet C7 Corvette is indeed one of the most highly anticipated debuts of the upcoming auto show season, and we've now learned that General Motors' famed sports car will officially bow on Sunday, January 13 during a preview event for the Detroit Auto Show press days. (We can already picture the mob scene.)

To get buzz going on the new car, GM has released this image of the redesigned crossed flags emblem – the iconic symbol that Corvettes have worn since the model's introduction in 1953. "The flags are much more modern, more technical, and more detailed than before – underscoring the comprehensive redesign of the entire car," Ed Welburn, GM's vice president of Global Design, said in a statement today.

If you're still hot on plunking down cash for one of the C6 Corvette models, you don't have much time left. Automotive News reports that dealers still have until December to submit orders for the current Corvette, and that buyers with very specific orders should get them in by the end of October in order to have their exact specifications guaranteed. The 2013 C6 Corvette will officially go out of production in February.

Following that, GM's Bowling Green, Kentucky facility will shut down for six months in order to retool and prepare for production of the 2014 C7 model. GM has already cancelled tours at the plant in preparation for the shutdown.

We've seen plenty of spy shots of the C7 Corvette running around, but details are still slim on what exactly lies under all that camouflage. GM will show its new small-block V8 to the world on Wednesday, October 24, and we'll be at the live unveiling to pass along all the details. In addition to the C7, this new small-block will power the next generation of GM pickups, which will also debut at the Detroit show.

Scroll down for GM's official release regarding the Corvette's new emblem, as well as a video showing the history of the crossed flags.

Next-generation Corvette to Debut 1.13.13 in Detroit

New Crossed Flags logo illustrates the character of the all-new, "C7" Corvette

BRASELTON, Ga. – Chevrolet today confirmed the seventh-generation Corvette will debut on Sunday evening, Jan. 13, 2013, in Detroit. To start the countdown to 1.13.13, Chevrolet is showing the new Crossed Flags logo for the new 2014 Corvette.

"The all-new, seventh-generation Corvette deserved an all-new emblem," said Ed Welburn, GM vice president of global design. "The new Crossed Flags design reflects the character of the next Corvette. The flags are much more modern, more technical, and more detailed than before – underscoring the comprehensive redesign of the entire car."

The new Crossed Flags logo was unveiled at Road Atlanta, where Corvette Racing celebrated a sweep of the 2012 production-based American Le Mans Series GT championships.

Chevrolet secured the manufacturer's championship; Corvette Racing secured the team championship, and Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner captured the drivers' championship with four wins in the nine races preceding Petit Le Mans, the 2012 ALMS season finale.

These championships make Corvette Racing the most successful team in ALMS history, with a total of 77 class wins, eight drivers' championships, and nine manufacturer and team championships since 2001. The team has also taken seven class victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans since 2001. Corvette Racing will campaign the C6.R for the 2013 ALMS season. The C7.R is expected to make its racing debut in 2014.

"Winning the ALMS championships with the Corvette C6.R, against prestigious competitors from Ferrari, Porsche, and BMW is the perfect send-off for the sixth-generation Corvette," said Tadge Juechter, Corvette chief engineer.

"The seventh-generation Corvette will build on that success," Juechter continued. "With the new Corvette, we set out to build a world-challenging sports car with design, refinement, efficiency and driver engagement that is second to none. The result is a truly all-new Corvette. There are only two carryover parts from the C6 used in the C7 – the cabin air filter and the rear latch for the removable roof panel."

The Crossed Flags logo has been a hallmark of the Corvette since its 1953 introduction. It has always incorporated a pair of flags, one a racing checkered flag and other featuring the Chevrolet "bowtie" emblem and a French fleur-de-lis. The design has evolved over the years, and has been featured on more than 1.5 million Corvettes built between 1953 and today.

For the seventh-generation Corvette, the Crossed Flags design is a more technical, more angular and more swept appearance – in proportion that symbolizes the new car. It is also a more detailed representation, showing greater depth, color and attention to detail.

More than 100 variations were considered before the final design was selected.

The new Crossed Flags design will be featured on the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, which will debut for credential media on Sunday, Jan 13, 2013 in Detroit. Chevrolet will offer a limited number of tickets for Corvette enthusiasts, with proceeds benefiting the National Corvette Museum, in Bowling Green, Ky. Interested parties can contact Roc Linkov (roc@corvettemuseum.com) for more details.

Over coming weeks, more information and video content about the seventh-generation Corvette will be unlocked on www.one13thirteen.com. Enthusiasts can join the conversation about the next-generation Corvette, as well as keep track of new announcements on Facebook (facebook.com/corvette) and Twitter @Chevrolet(#Corvette). Fans that follow the #one13thirteen hashtag on Twitter can look forward to exclusive updates.

FAST FACT: The first Corvette debuted as a concept car on Jan. 17, 1953 at the GM Motorama in New York City. That car originally featured an emblem with a checkered flag crossed with an American flag. Because use of the American flag was prohibited as part of a commercial property, the logo was changed to the fleur-de-lis/bowtie design when the Corvette went into production in June 1953.

2014 Corvette C7 Details Leaked, LT4 Coming in 2015

Quote:
The highly anticipated Corvette C7 has had its fair share of leaks, but this one might be the most revealing one yet revealing that the next-generation of Chevrolet‘s great American sports car will indeed live up to its hype.

Details accompanying some signature blurry-cam photos include that the C7 Corvette will have an optional carbon fiber roof, heated and cooled front seats, while the dash will sport a similar setup to what’s seen in the current Cadillac XTS with CUE. In addition, the new buttons seen throughout the interior look to be of high quality (similar to those found in the new Porsche 911), while no physical tachometer will be present in the next-generation Corvette, just a graphic in the middle LCD screen. All other gauges in the dash will be physical gauges.

But most exciting is the leak that in 2015 an LT4 option will be made available, an upgrade from the current Camaro ZL1 powerplant with even more horsepower. Early speculation has Corvette enthusiasts believing that 2014 will see an LT1-powered C7 Vette with anywhere from 480 to 500 hp while the 2015 model will have an option LT4 sporting mid-500 horsepower.

C7 Chevrolet Corvette's rump is realistically rendered

Quote:
With a steady stream of leaked renderings and spy shots of late, people are seemingly pretty fired up about this next-generation, C7 Chevrolet Corvette. Perhaps you've noticed?

Word out today will do nothing but add fuel to that enthusiast fire, as the Vette faithful have delivered what is believed to be a very accurate rendering of the rear portion of the C7. The new car would appear to have P-shaped taillights that borrow heavily from the Chevy Camaro, those being a huge departure from the traditional round units usually sported by the Corvette. The rear lighting seen here is accented by a black surround that gives it the units a "mascara" effect that we're not entirely comfortable with on America's finest sports car.

Also visible here is an appropriate fastback shape that seems to end neatly in an extended rear lip spoiler. In all, the rendering shows a snippet of a car that, while nothing like the Corvette of the now, seems set to take the marque on a big leap forward.

The best part of it all: Autoblog's insider sources tell us that what we're seeing is, in fact, very close to what we're going to get. A bit of spoiler height here and a vent there may be out of size, but by and large, this rendering represents the reality of the next Chevrolet Corvette's terminus.

Make your voice heard – tell us what you think of this as the rump for the new Vette in Comments.

This is your best look yet at Chevy's C7 Corvette

We've seen the new C7 Corvette performing some cold-weather tests, had sneak peeks of digital body parts and even watched speculative animated video. Thanks to our hard-working spy photographers that chased down this group of Corvette test mules, we can see most of these reports were on the right track.

Chevy is still doing a great job camouflaging its upcoming Corvette, but these new photos show us some new details about the C7 'Vette. The biggest news with these new pictures is our first glimpse inside the new Corvette, which reveals some stylish and sporty bucket seats that appear to be all ready for a set of five-point harnesses. Better yet, a glimpse of the new steering wheel would seem to show the angular, edgy direction of the interior styling. Like the exterior, though, the rest of the cabin is cleverly camo'd up, and there is still no definitive word as to what will be found under that long, vented hood.

One of the more unique shots of this bunch shows the new Corvette sitting next to a Camaro ZL1. We're not sure if this is for a performance comparison, but it gives us a great look at the size difference between the two cars.

As we start to piece together all of the images for the C7 Corvette, we're eagerly anticipating its official arrival which is said to be at the 2013 Detroit auto show. In the meantime check out the massive gallery of spy photos for yourself.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Rendered, C7 Interior Spotted

New Renderings Preview Possible 2014 Corvette Styling

Quote:
Anticipation for the next-generation 2014 Chevrolet Corvette has been running high. After all, the new 2014 model will be lighter, faster, and more efficient on top of having a better build quality than the current sports car. We recently spotted testers at GM’s proving grounds, but now a gang of prototypes have been caught on a mountain getaway, and our spy photographers got a look inside. Along with our comprehensive gallery of new 2014 Corvette spy photos, we’re also featuring next-generation Corvette renderings that preview what the new car may look like underneath all that camo.

The Corvette’s interior has been its weakest spot, but the new C7 could change all that. A new dash, seats, door trims, and a major upgrade in the quality of the materials are reportedly in the books for the new Vette, and a covered-up dash in the photos suggests GM is hiding some upgrades there. While the dash wears camouflage, we got a clear view of new fixed-back bucket seats that look similar to Recaros.

Outside, the already familiar center-mounted quad tailpipe tips remain along with the four circular taillights. Up front, though, camouflage could be hiding full LED headlights or a more dramatic take on the new C6′s HID headlights. Expect a resculpted and more aggressive front fascia and grille, and improved aerodynamics to help fuel economy. A aluminum spaceframe could also help achieve that, along with a small-block V-8 engine downsized to 5.5-liters. Two new transmissions, a seven-speed manual and eight-speed automatic, may also make it in the new C7.

2014 Corvette C7 Prototypes Pictured and Filmed in New Mexico

Quote:
One of the most sought after prototype vehicles of the year has been photographed and filmed, not by professional spy shooters, but by a reader and a YouTube user respectively, both in the same place in Red River, a resort town in Taos County, New Mexico, over the weekend.

The photos come to us courtesy of a Jalopnik reader who spotted a large fleet of General Motors' sports cars consisting of five Camaro ZL1s, all current versions of the Corvette C6 including the base model, the Z06 and the flagship ZR1, plus eight covered models that are believed to be prototypes of the next Corvette C7.

In addition to the images, we also discovered a short video on YouTube from a one Phil McGroin, who also says that he filmed the Corvette C7 test car in Red River.

The new C7 ought to debut early next year, possibly at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show in January, with sales to begin in the States in the fall of the same year with a base price starting from around $50,000 (€38,000).

Spied! 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Racing Around GM’s Proving Grounds

Quote:
As good as the current Chevrolet Corvette is, we all know there’s plenty of room for improvement. The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 underneath all that camouflage could have the dynamic improvements that will help the car challenge a surprisingly crowded field that includes the SRT Viper, Nissan GT-R, and Porsche 911.

Caught at GM’s proving grounds, the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette prototype reveals meaty quad exhaust outlets and what appears to be four circular taillights, a long-time Corvette styling cue. While the C6 introduced to the lineup HID headlights, don’t be surprised if the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette introduces HID headlights that turn around corners or, maybe as an option, full LED headlights. Expect a resculpted and more aggressive front fascia and grille, as well as improved aerodynamics to improve high-speed stability and fuel economy.

Yes, even on a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7, fuel economy is important. While a six-cylinder engine may be offered at some point during the next-generation Corvette’s lifecycle, a new version of the small-block V-8 with a displacement of about 5.5 liters and close to 440 hp will be featured under the hood, powering a lighter car. Direct-injection and cylinder deactivation technologies are possible additions, and expect the Corvette to use the newest generation of the magnetorheological shock absorbers found on the 2013 Camaro ZL1.

The 2013 Chevrolet Corvette is EPA-rated as high as 15-16/25-26 mpg city/highway — the 2014 Corvette may pass those numbers by at least 10 percent.

Though one of the current Corvette’s biggest issues has been its lackluster interior, ultimately, the car will compete based on the quality of the driving experience. The new Corvette may use a shorter wheelbase and it’s been said the car may at some point incorporate a seven-speed manual and eight-speed automatic.

Retooling on the car’s Bowling Green factory has already begun, suggesting the 2014 Corvette may debut at the upcoming Detroit auto show and roll into dealerships after the middle of the 2013 calendar year. The 2013 Chevrolet Corvette carries a base price of $50,575; a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters costs $1250.

As we get closer to the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette’s reveal, we want to get your thoughts again: What should be Chevrolet’s focus with the 2014 Corvette?
