Can't have it both ways.
I made the mistake of buying a salvage Chevy Z71 2004 that was from the rust belt. It was still a good deal, though. I did have to replace all the brake lines because they rusted out. Cost $850. But I got the truck for about $6k less than non-salvage. I've had it about 7 years now.

I'll have to look into this.. as you can tell I'm very new to this platform and there isn't enough time in the day to try and quickly catch up on a few years of aftermarket support for these cars..

I'm assuming I'll just need to source the tune from the web somewhere to be able to flash it via the tactrix cable instead of being a plug-&-play software flash of the OFT?

After giving it some thought you are right on the springs and titanium retainers. The car definitely won't be turbo in the foreseeable future so no need to waste money on something like that.

What I did decide that I am going to do is:
- decide on air filter system (still doing some research to see what the best bang for the buck is)
- greddy axle back titanium tip muffler delete
- OFT stage 1 tune (looking to see if i can find a used tablet for around 350ish)
- and POSSIBLY some UEL headers with a cat. < this is going to be the pricey portion but I think it will do it wonders for the future in case we decide to play with some E85

now to return from the fantasy land and actually pick up the dang car so I can start making the repairs it ACTUALLY needs...
Best bang is probably a K&N drop in. If I had to pick something "more" it'd be the TRD air box, because it's a huuuuuge enclosed panel filter and the outlet tube is closely matched to the original so it doesn't tweak the maf signal as much as other aftermarket intakes.

Thanks man! The TRD route sounds like the way to go.

I just picked up the car from the dealer this morning and its back in the driveway, so looking forward to starting the tear down process here in the next week or so

Also decided im probably going to skip the header upgrade and just do a cat-back exhaust.. the price was starting to look a little much for everything i wanted (UEL catted headers, axle-back muffler delete exhaust, air filter, OFT) it was nearing north of $2k, and im looking to try and keep it around $1300-1500 for upgrades on top of the 500 i'll need to rebuild.

You're a life saver ! With so man options for this platform that helps a whole lot. Hopefully their results are trustworthy but I'm more than likely going to go with the takeda momentum filter judging by their results they obtained.
