I didn't write the software, just entered the details

I rechecked the placard on the wheels (which I have here with me Work Emotion CR-Kai happy to post photo of placard if requested.) 18x7.5 +48.

According to the calculator you used it's actually 22mm increase in track which either way is legal (I went in and entered the details).

I apologise if it seemed I was taking sides - an error on my part.

At this point I bow out of the conversation between yourself and coyote.

I worked it out with the 17x17.5 +45 you gave above, Yes the +48 will decrease the track difference.
Didn't think you were taking sides man, just linking to the calculator I had used

Got it - wanted to make sure I corrected my mistake so everyone was on the same page. I didn't want to add fuel to the discussion

To summarise, according to the calculator with:

18x7.5 +48 and 225/40 18" = 22mm increase in track width.

With documented proof.... (Placard attached).

Hey, I simply corrected an error ... then bowed out when someone went on a rant. The error needed correcting, as it's important.

I'll state again, for the purpose of testing legality in Qld, a +45 offset will result in a 6mm increase in track, which is legal.

Of course there'll be a small increase in the scrub radius, but that won't have the kind of detrimental effects that offsets of +30 or less may be prone to.

Is this calculator correct?
If I put in the same details for both wheels it shows track diff as 0 which it should.
Then if I change one tyre by 10mm (so 215 to 225) it says the track changes by 0.39 of an inch.
That sounds wrong to me. The tyres simply get wider but the centre of the tyre doesn't move at all.
Or do I not get it?

I think you are correct, and the calculator makes the same "assumption" I originally did - Outside of Tyre vs. Centre of Tyre so overall "Track" changes, but not by the definition the QLD government uses which is where the centre of the tyre is in relation to the centre of the car.

Either way the electrons on the interwebz are providing lots of argument fodder and I'm legal.

Yeah its pretty crazy - the way I see it is going from +48 to +38 is moving the centre of the wheel out by 10mm on each wheel - so total track change is 20mm - regardless of the width of the wheel.

But I don't have a twat.

If I did I'd rather have a 6mm one than a 22mm one though

Sorry if this is an obvious question, but on the placard of a GT, would it say 16x6.5 or 17x7 (GTS spec)?
