What's wrong with the Evora? Just curious.

First time I've ever heard anything like that. Is this real or just "sh*t 86 owners say"?

I'll just repost my thoughts from a separate thread:

Looks are great (and even better in person), brakes have bite, but the car isn't screwed together at all -- fitment and finish is worse than the 86.
The steering is telepathic, but communicated through one of the cheapest feeling wheels I've held on to.
The Camry V6 doesn't like to rev like our boxers and feels lethargic and disconnected.
Shifter action is so long it feels like you're punching the bloke overseas who put it together.
Pedal placement might have been an afterthought for LHD, because it is so offset to the right, I was fatigued after my test drive.
No dead pedal either unless you get the IPS.

They fixed some of these problems with the Evora S (and 400), but $8k and 30 hours to replace the clutch sealed it's fate for me.

I know they are a dime a dozen, but the Cayman is a far superior road car, it takes a fairly special person to own a Lotus.
You will have to accommodate that maybe your Lotus won't startup the next day and you will not have parts for months.

You have to disassemble half the car just to replace the clutch

You have to remove the entire engine in the Audi R8 V8 to replace the A/C compressor. Mid engine cars apparently weren't designed to be worked on. LOL.

As for the Lotus. meh.

Well, that's an idea.

However, if she can't hear me talking to the other drivers on the road, she won't know when to tell me "they can't hear you". Also, if she couldn't hear the turn signal blinking, she wouldn't know when to tell me "your turn signal is on".

Lol, keep telling your self that. The only thing Subaru about the BRZ is the cheap plastic interior.

And all the insane rattling sounds that come from the engine just off idle. That is definitely a Subaru trait.

Strangely, I am watching now live the Super GT series race in Fuji Speedway. There are two cars competing in GT300 category, one from Subaru and one from Toyota. The one from Subaru is a BRZ that uses a mother chassis directly from production car, the one from Toyota is a Prius car. Who believes more on this car and who offers more information based on actual racing experience? Toyota is using 86 mainly on the one-make Gazoo(*) 86/BRZ races which is more a marketing promotion event (10 laps per race!) and in the Nürburgring 24h race once per year (not that often to provide actual feedback).

(*) Gazoo Racing branch is well know to be a media PR / Marketing branch of Toyota Global Japan marketing of Toyota. Check a reference here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...83&postcount=6

Just FYI, all Toyota Motorsports are officially Gazoo as of earlier this year. Rally, LeMans, 86, etc. It is the Motorsports division.

Determining who cares more about the car by who races it in a super modified race series is pure conjecture.

You are an old member here, so you should now better. Saying that the only thing Subaru did about the BRZ was the cheap plastic interior, means that you are at least ignorant. In fact, the interior design is a Toyota contribution. Besides, both companies are not famous about their high quality interiors. Lexus is another story and even there you have to choose some high end offering to get a real quality interior.

About the Super GT race series, it can offer experience that can be transferred back to the production cars. In fact we know exactly what Subaru improved back in 2014 and it was admitted by them that it was based on the Super GT experience (two full years 2012, 2013). I am not saying that Toyota is not contributing at all, but they have much less experience using this car on actual racing. If you are a die hard Toyota fan, look closer the future of the Prius car. This is where Toyota invests their money now.

When i purchased my first BRZ in the summer of 12 i was single and had no kids. Perfect car for me. Didnt need the comforts of a luxury car and didnt mind no room for stuff. Shortly after i was introduced to what would now be my wife and mother of my child. So with life moving and needs changing i eventually traded my car for a Lexus gs350 f. Awesome car for what i felt was what we needed at the time in our life. Comfortable, no road noise, decent power, and of course 4 doors with room. My wife drives the car cause i also had a truck at the time. While things were great not having to worry about curbs or which angle to take the driveways i was feeling a missing piece of my daily commute. So my friend owned a dealership as was on the look for my next car. He of course recommended the RC F to match my Gs and be a Lexus family lol. I loved the idea so i started researching and looking around. In the meantime i came across an awesome deal on another BRZ and started throwing that into the idea of getting back into one. After all i loved my brz, i loved the driver feel and feedback. So i had to ask myself which i would be ultimately more happier with. After a few long months i ended up back in a BRZ and i dont regret it one bit. I still love the RC F for what it is and maybe if my commute was more in the city where i spent 30 mins or more in traffic i would have picked that one. I really appreciate now my BRZ and what it is. Comparing these two cars is almost like apples and oranges. They are 2 different awesome cars for what they are. Ultimately comes down to preferences and what suites your needs. I love my BRZ more than ever.
