How was the old "break-in" oil?

I did my first change at 2000KM. It was a bit early, but i was going for a 400-500 km mountain highway roadtrip, and knew i'd be winding it out... a lot...

Quick question for you guys. I've got Royal Purple 0w20 oil on the way, but haven't been able to get away to a Subaru dealership to get a filer. Can I just pick one from an Autozone that's close to my house? If so, then what filter do you guys recommend.

i got a case of 12 subaru oem filters for like $6.50 each online. I think they're like $8 or something from the dealer. (scion wants $20+ for them wtf?)
subarupartsonline.com i think, or something like that.

K&N makes a good filter, i think the part number was HP-1004 but yeah Toyota/Scion wants way too much for them i guess Subaru is trying to make some money back on oil filters.

I got it done this morning at 3,200. It's not a placebo effect. Car feels totally different. In a good way.

Just picked up 4 OEM Subaru filters at the dealership. When the Fumoto valve and the RP oil gets here I'll do the change. I've been checking the oil the past few days and its surprisingly clean (at least it looks it to my eyes). Can't wait to see what some good oil will do to the car.

BTW, on the way to the dealership I got a few chances to get on the gas and I just love the noises from my Airaid intake. Can't wait to see what the Perrin CBE will do.

You should try out replacing your regular oil plug with a oil drain valve to ease your oil changes

Lucas, old buddy, that doesn't really answer the question, does it? Are you selling these valves or something?

Ayaz, as you can see from this thread, there are different schools of thought on this subject. Nobody really knows, but most would agree that you would do little harm and perhaps a little good by changing out your oil at 3500 mi.

Once again, let me suggest that http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/ is a good resource. All they do there is talk about and think about and do tests on oil.

Engine NEEDS oil change after first 3,500. On the positive, we don't need an oil change light, you will hear it locking up.
