I have the Grimm Speed towhook mount and it works great. I will put up a pic shortly.

Fairly certain the dealership drilled the plate frame into the front bumper.
Is there any way to patch up the holes (and still look good)? I'm looking at that motorized plate holder and it looks pretty flash.

I know there is an electronic one that with a push of a button retracts it or pulls it out might be a pain to install but defenetly a cool way to go

I've not had a front plate here in more than 12 years... Don't drive like an idiot and give them a reason to ticket you for extra stuff. Even if you drive a flashy red car...

Ohio requires it... Too bad. I'll take the ticket if I ever get one, I'm not ruining the front of my car.

I was pulled over once in my old xB for not having a front license plate. What makes this remarkable is that I had a front plate. About 1 minute before I was pulled over, another nearly identical xB passed me with no front plate and I guess the cop had lost site of him and saw me. That damn cop was a prick even after he looked at the front of my car and my plate. This is in Texas where it is law to have a plate but no punishment on the books for not having it.

Don't look like you're trying too hard by using the tow hook mounting location. You can mount it in the stock position without drilling into the bumper. As a previous poster noted, there are two small holes already in the top part of the grille. These are for the bottom two screws of the plate bracket. Once you screw in the bottom two screws you'll notice it's very sturdy and will not come off. If you're still unsure, you can use two pieces of double-sided tape to secure the top part of the bracket to the bumper.

The thing with mounting it in front of the grille is that it blocks air flow.

But then you also have people suggesting to zip tie it to the grill, which likely isn't going to be any better when it comes to air flow... probably worse.
