Some people will say that the k24 is the best 4 banger ever made. Can't verify that but it would be a major upgrade over the fa20 for sure.

As far as i know it'd have to be same year engine or newer, with obviously all the emissions equipment.

It would be biennial starting this year, but no. The car may be registered in a smog exempt area of California.

Are you guys ready for the horror show?
But before we see some pics, the good: the supercharger is intact without a scratch on it! The coolant pipe blocked the rod that broke through the block, so much so, that the water pipe cracked in half! One of the supercharger connectors took a direct hit and shattered, so that will need replacing.

Here is the water pipe, the pieces of the block and the piston end of the rod. You can see the bend in the block bolt from the force of the rod ripping through the block. I can’t wait to get the block apart to see what else is inside. I’m taking tomorrow off, and then I’ll work on it some more on Sunday.

That's clearly a falsehood if you look at any real data. Why make such an erroneous statement? Wait, finding pleasure in hardships of others is your thing? At the end of the day that is what is happening as the owner has to deal with the situation in front of them. I know this is just a car forum but in all seriousness that isn't a healthy or sustainable mentality. Internal introspection is difficult, but perhaps you should consider it for your well being and those around you. |

Well, in Subaru’s defense, the car had more than double the horsepower for quite a while, and I beat on the car, taking it to redline daily. Most manufacturers don’t do much better. They seem like par. Frankly, I was surprised the engine could handle as much power as it did. I expected the tranny to go a long time ago too.
