Mmm, looks nice. I think I'll wait to do it until I have at least one actual STi performance part though. That's just me.

Why? I think that this part is so cool I would get it even if I bought an Outback.

I agree it's very cool, but it's alllmost like putting an STi badge or sticker on your car and not having any actual STi performance parts on the car. Like having an HKS oil cap and no other parts from HKS. The cap itself doesn't improve performance, nor does this push-button start. That's just my feeling on it. Not telling anyone else they can't!

I can see where your coming from but I strongly disagree. I feel like STi bits are just like any other Accessory to be added to any vehicle.

STi makes parts for every Subaru model from the R2 up to the Exiga. They aren't always "performance" parts.

Me and Lanez (he has even more than me) have just about cleared out the whole STi catalog for the BRZ. The only "real" performance parts that I feel like I've added is the Front Splitter and Strut Bar. The rest of them are purely aesthetics or trimmings to me.

I think if you only put the STi Push Button on, you are totally fine.

I would not ever put an STi sticker on a car though that wasn't an STi model.

Installed mine today and that perf boost is clearly noticeable.

Installation is a BReeZe! I pulled out the trim underneath the passenger side knee panel (2 clips, 1 in the middle, and 1 on the right) and used that space to access the USB/audio connector from behind and pop it out. Disconnect the USB/audio connector from the harness and use that hole to give yourself some leverage on the trim piece. There are 3 clips on the top and 3 on the bottom, it helps to pull down and out then up and out. Since you're pulling from the USB side, it'll come out first and the start button side won't unclip the top or bottom. Just pull gently and it'll pop out.

Here's some pictures I snapped. The button is definitely red not pink (or cherry blossom red).

Saw this one on Ebay for $75. I have an STI button, but this one is pretty cool for the GT86 guys.

EDIT: I should mention that this is more than likely not plug in play and will require some wiring know-how to get it working properly.

I would steer clear of that Tom's piece. It looks like the original Push Button Starter for the Impreza, Land Cruiser, etc that is not applicable to our cars.

The TRD and STi versions that are applicable to our car do not include the little lit oval in the center of the button.

You could give it a crack but I think it would just mean that you were out 75 where most of us are out over 200 for the wrong button.

I agree. It's generic but an option for those searching nonetheless.

I also intended to add that I have the impreza specific one in my STi hatch. If the BRZ we ordered ever makes it over here, I'll end up wiring that one to fit. I don't feel like spending another $220 at the parts counter in Japan again

Wonder if the price of these will ever go down.

If they do, I'll be all over it...
