It's a little disheartening to not have gotten anything at this IFO but there's always next time. StayCrushing was kind of a shoe in for best Scion, I talked with him and he said that the event promoters invited him out to the show. I was a little bitter about not getting at least second but after having a good nap I pretty much should have seen this coming. The import scene is still heavily influenced by the "stance" scene, and in that vein, low and slow will typically trump anything remotely built for actual use. Not to say its a bad thing but these stance clubs have kinda screwed up how these shows work. All the Instagram/Facebook nonsense and appealing to the 18-20 year old crowd is how you get to win.

I am going to start working on some "advertising" for my car and build that isn't strictly limited to this forum. After chatting with StayCrushing, I have a better idea of how to go about getting better exposure for my car. StayCrushing is actually a pretty cool guy, he's been in the scene for about 5 years and basically called in a bunch of favors to get his car where it is now. It also helps that he's based out of LA, I mean living in the center of Cali car culture has its perks.

said it yourself, you wannawin? get 100lbs of ground effects and try out some 19" wheels with 255s, you'll win. paint it purple. Low and slow. I dont get the idea where modding a sports car cross the line that OE cars are faster, on or off the track. Buts thats whats happened to that demographic of 20'somethings, they like low slow, often counterintuitive stuff like stance, and total disregard for handling. Folks are spending money to make their cars slower, but they can brag they put on an intake, or part X or Y but its not 'needed' or 'worth it' except to say , look, sound mean. Brag you added this or that but its not performance just casue you say it is.

What ever happened to real men, real speed, real balls of steel? Welding, polishing, bending drilling cutting. I cant help but laugh when I read that post about the guy who wants to modify but wont splice a wire. Alot has changed since I was in high school, and its not for the better if you ask me

Folks dont realize what they are missing out on the adrenaline rush of sliding evenly, the g forces of applying throttle all the way thru a 180 degree turn, the
joy of making something BETTER, not just by appearance, but function. You never see stanced out cars at the track, and when you do its usually busted.

I see no gain in 'working to get recognition' from IFO and the teen bopper who this market has turned to catering to. If its gratifying to you to get their attention go for it, but I liked teh P&L kit you have, I would just go in a more purist direction, get you to handle, and stuff, I mean you should have no trouble keeping your car up with mine on a track with your build, but following the stancers will only make you slower, and whether its street or track, just like I can shake off most mustangs and camaro's when the road ceases to be a straightline, just be careful you dont end up in that group, that would be my advice. This weekend, I had a member realize they needed to raise their front ride height, I was so happy to see someone see sensibility. When I wanna look good, I shave, get a hair cut, buy some nice threads. Attention for building your car wrong is just that, wrong. I'd hate to see your build go south, i like it alot where it is. thats my 2 cents. Nothing would please me more than to see that thing out handle, out manuver and out speed mine. There is no reason you cant look good doing it, many cars at the track look the part act the part and fly past me, loud, flashy and built RIGHT too.

Don't worry pretty sure everyone here would much rather have a supercharger or turbo than a body kit

I'd even take the RELEASE of the innovate supercharger over a body kit.

This type of mentality is backed by the part companies making it really hard for people like me that come from carburetors and leaf springs to know what is for performance and what is just for show. In muscle cars most everything in the summit catalogs will make your car faster or handle better. But now I find myself constantly asking for help.

More is not always better, expensive doesn't generally mean quality, and no amount of money can overcome technique and proper training. I learned that on motorcycles after schooling squid sport bikers up Mt. Lemmon on my 500lb, 80hp BMW.

Oh yeah I totally understand that. I was just saying things like the suspension setups on our cars are not all meant for traction and racing. Some are just to lower the car or drifting. This type of stuff I don't know to me a spring is just a spring and I have found that which one is much more important than I thought. my coils came with stiffer rear springs which promotes the back end to kick out I want just the opposite so I'm going to change them.

@The Sleeper - You left your card on my car at LA Fitness on Mill & Southern last week. Thanks! I was already a member but I know someone that is not and will certainly pass it along to her.
