It doesn't take special training to seal a boxer engine. It isn't rocket science. It just takes at least looking at the instructions and a tiny bit of care. A ten year old could do it if they just paid attention.

Yeah... I think if you’re going for a stock headlight, 86 Monogram headlights might be the only option.

Seeing so many engine blowing up, clearly it’s not the case.

I get what you are saying but these guys are still professional techs that get paid money to do this. I’m just a dude reading directions in the sig of another dude(Ultra’s). It’s not too hard. In most areas it’s 2.5-3.5mm bead of sealant at the top of the grove of the sealing surface. The guy that did this looks like he was frosting a cake, and he loves frosting.

I'd probably be alright changing to a different design on the fronts as long as I can still have a highbeam. I just like the stock rears more than anything else I've seen. The circle-rectangle just fits the shape, all other designs look like they are cramming shapes that don't belong in.

You are confusing lack of care for lack of skill. It does not take a special course in Japan to learn how to seal a boxer engine. Boxer engines are no different to work on than any other engine. IF YOU TAKE PROPER CARE.
You work on your own car and did you need special training? The Toyota techs do nothing but work on cars they aren't confused by the sealant. Some just didn't care enough to do it right.

uggggg.... why must all my idea's be expensive?

so the rangers oil filter is up on the underside of the block, to the side of the oil pan, and directly above the passenger a-arm mount. mounted so the filter faces down. i'm tired of having hot oil drizzling down the entire length of my arm every time i go to unscrew it, always ending with a face full of oil when i finally maneuver it past the a-arm mounts...

so i started looking into remote-mount filters, which led me to looking for an inverted oil filter mount similar to the brz, where i could do an oil change in a tux if i had to.

there's only 1 company(baxter performance) that makes a remote inverted oil filter mount on the entire globe(how is this even possible anymore?!?). and it's $230.00. plus the plate adapter, AN fittings and braided lines, i'm probably close to $400.

all the other relocation kits are under $75 total...

one day i'll have an idea that's cheap!

One time I had an idea that I wanted my car(s) to be shiney. Now I just ordered $250 worth of detailing consumables... For the third time...

I bought a DIY ceramic car care kit, a year ago. Still sitting there unused

You’re right about lack care. I see all over the social media of all the fail owners fixes. I have seen owner fucking it up MORE than dealer, when they work on fixing the issue. Is that lack of care? No! It’s lack of SKILL! & I’m guilty as well. I’ve fucked up my car. Am I lacking care for my car? Hell no! Then why am I fucking it up? Cuz I’m fucking idiot is a major reason, but also lack of skills AND fucking instruction doesn’t make any fucking SENCE! Yes, you (*certain brand*) I’m talking about you mofo w shitty instruction! lol

I’m sure dealership & other shops hide those mistakes better than some idiot owners posting how much they fucked up and how to fix it on social media.

Boxer engines are def no different to work on than any other engine. But do require CARE & SKILL to work on ANY engine. Most dealership tech have skills, but lack care. Most owner do care, but lack skills. Simple as that.

To add, this is why Toyota or even other Japanese automotive brand have these training not only to have better skills, but make them care. Becoming a Master Tech is instant promotion. But of course require annually recertifications. If you don’t pass, it’s an instant demotion. They’re also employee of the brand (like Toyota, Subaru, Honda, Nissan & etc) & not employee of dealership. This is why, in Japan, dealership put who’s master tech photo in their site &/or front door. Why that matter? Tbh idk, but make the buyer feel safe to get their car fix & maintained?

Yamaha started a program like that when I left the motorcycle industry. So I only went through part of the program. They wanted to try to standardize troubleshooting practices to make it easier to work with the regional service reps. I remember going to their Atlanta facility when I was 22 or so for their "Silver Level" class. No one else in our group knew how to rebuild a dual cartridge inverted fork or a modern shock. I did them all the time. They were looking at it like a high school kid dissecting a frog in science class. It was a fun week though, learned a lot of trouble shooting on the new at the time fuel injection systems. The R6R when it came out had 2 ECU's, one to run it's drive by wire system. The guys that got to go to the gold class had parts from VR46's MotoGP bike they got to check out. I was very jealous.
