I agree with the AR comments too. My Shadow Price is still a great gun, just slightly less so at massive range.

The AutoRifles are still my favorite primary. I really need to hit Vanguard Rank 3 so I can pick up a Legendary one. I like my Red Hand IX but I've used it so much now I'm ready for a break. Tried using the Strangers Pulse rifle the last few days but it seems underpowered now that I'm fighting stronger enemies.

^^ You'll get Vanguard reps like crazy with Tiger Strikes, Weekly, Daily, and if you're high enough Nightfall. I'm almost lvl 7 without even realizing lol. Too bad all the stuff I got for leveling from the mail are all garbage blues.

Nightfall was feasible using an almost fully upgraded sniper from the Queen's Wrath (name escapes me atm). It's enough to break the shield then switch to primary. The Sepik fight took forever though. Just stay in the room to the right and you're golden. I used a new void Fusion rifle for Sepik. In the end, I got a crappy legenday shotgun so I'm not sure if all that work was worth it lol.

Yeah, that was my steep learning curve with this game. I spent too much time farming after I did all the "regular" missions/strikes/patrols that I think I really hurt my Vanguard rank as it stayed quite stagnant for so long. I also was wearing that stupid Dead Orbit armor modifier which was sending rep points for Dead Orbit but not Vanguard? I finally took it off and when I started doing the Tiger Strikes, daily Strike/mission bounties etc. I noticed I went from low Vanguard rank 1 to rank 2 pretty fast which enabled me to start getting my legendary armor. Now I'm working on Rank 3 so I can buy the weapons. I'll probably run a couple Tiger strikes tonight if I get the time. I did a the daily heroic last night but didn't get anything useful other than a strange coin. I really need to work on getting some more coins today and tomorrow as I realized I had less than I thought I did.

The weekly heroic is great for rep and coins, you get 400 rep and 9 coins. Aside from that I farm rep with bounties (easy to get 300-500/day) and patrol missions while I'm doing the bounties. For the actual marks the Tiger strike is best, but I find the 25 rep for each strike is pretty useless for grinding rep.

Part of my really wants to try the nightfall again. But another part of me is going to be really mad when I get another god damn legendary rocket launcher or machine gun (I have 3 of each!) for my 2 hours of work.

I've been having bad RNG luck recently so I'm fully expecting the rocket launcher. When I hit Vanguard level 4 on Tuesday that stupid robot gave me a chest piece. I thought it only awarded weapons!?! At that moment I rage quit Vanguard and put on my New Monarchy cape.

Well, I think the one area most can agree on is the Destiny loot/reward system being broken. If there was a trading system, maybe not such a big deal but I also read that trading always brings its own set of problems.

Yes, I plan on giving the weekly a whir again this week. The last time I tried to solo it but my weapon/gear combo was too weak. I couldn't even break the minotaurs shields without getting whacked by them. Now that I'm rocking legendary armor and have a legendary weapon I'm thinking I may fair better this time.

Trading ruins high level loot, look at borderlands 2 if you need proof. You end up with people who just give stuff away. Then the dupers take over.

I've never played Borderlands, this is my first "console" game in almost 20 years so I've been trying to get up to speed with the current gaming industry. When I first picked up my Xbox and Destiny, I literally had no idea what I was getting myself into. At first, I just tried playing the game and hence part of why I started off so rocky. It's also why it took me so long to start figuring out how to actually play the game. I also avoided the APP, until this week. I figured I could at least start trying to pick up some of the helpful stuff with the game, not just the hate that seems to be spreading in their forums/feedback section.

So I ask this in all honesty, how does trading actually hurt the game? I mean, if you just give great stuff away for nothing, I could understand that but when I think of trading I think of 2 people actually needing what the other one has. Like I'm a Titan, you have an exotic helmet for a Titan but you are a Warlock. I have an exotic helmet for a Warlock, now we can trade and both be better off rather than having something you have to just scrap.

The only other option I can think of is having a loot/reward system that only gives you gear that is applicable to the character you are using but that would require some sort of fix by Bungie.

*edit-I did see where you mentioned people just giving gear away and I can see where that would/could cause a problem. Maybe a fix where only "like leveled gear/weapons was traded" as in my analogy above.

Trading on it's own is pretty innocent and for 80% of the population it'd be fine. But it's the 20% of the population, the same 20% that figure out how to cheese Atheon and who exploited Xur when he sold strange coins that ruined it for the rest of us. They'll figure out a way to dupe or cheat the system to give all of their friends all of their exotics and yet also keep them for themselves.

In borderlands you just had people join your game, dump a whole inventory worth of Exotic weapons and then leave. The exotics quickly became "regular" and there were significantly more exotics in that game than Destiny.

Then you're sitting there with all the best guns in the game and you realize there's very little reason to play the game anymore.

I clearly don't have all the answers and at the end of the day you'll never be able to satisfy everyone. Maybe I'm in the minority but I still enjoy the game. I even enjoy the PvP stuff at times, but I do suck at it. I actually have some ideas on how they could fix that but there already seems to be a bunch of armchair quarterbacks over their forums who have all the solutions.

In the end, the only thing I get frustrated with is the loot/reward system at times. As you already mentioned, it gets frustrating putting in a couple hours only to get the same stuff over and over, not the stuff you want or need. I'm also not happy with my exotic weapons bounty, I haven't dropped it yet but probably will. With the way that bounty is structured, I'd probably have to grind away for 2 months in PvP to ever actually get it.

Last night turned out pretty good for me. Did a Tiger Strike, got two legendary rewards, though one was for a Warlock and one a Hunter. Picked up my last piece of legendary gear for my Titan, leg armor. Got a strange coin from getting gold in a public event. Upgraded the damage on Red Hand IX. Both my chest plate and helmet are eligible for upgrade, but short on ascendant shards right now. Lastly, turned in a bounty and was offered the other two exotic weapon bounties, Bad Juju and Invictis. Googled them this time, according to what I read both still require a PvP element but seemed much more doable than my one for Thorn so I dropped it and went with Invictis since I'd rather have a shotgun than a pulse rifle. So I guess I'll be spending a lot of time this weekend working on it. Also leveled up to 27.

Screw the RNG. The game provides all the vendors you need to outfit yourself with great high end weapons and armor. You just have to put in a bit of work. They even throw you a bone with Xur even if he's part of the RNG.

My RNG luck has been mostly terrible, as far as purples I've gotten 1 gauntlet and 3 rocket launchers and 3 machine guns. Not exactly useful. But i bought my exotic helm and Icebreaker from Xur, bought my purple armor from vendors, bought my Shadow Price from the Vanguard guy and i'm about to pick up The Devil You Know. I'm very well equipped now.

Purples are the meat and potatoes of this game, exotics are just showpieces.
