I read about 20 pages worth of posts and decided I want my time back. So instead of reading the remaining 25+ pages of rants about the HVAC and head unit, let me just say that I fully support the direction Scion went.

All the performance items are still on the car. The LSD will be there, the rear brakes are vented, and the suspension hasn't been reported to be changed. This is what we were promised: an elemental sports car without doodads. It's the low spec, but without the solid rear discs that might have slightly limited the low spec's performance potential.

The Scion version is basically the no-nonsense all performance version of the platform. Bravo Scion!

Dual zone ac (toggle switch controls look better) looks better but no need for it at all
Red stitching throughout the interior Probably they will roll out with a RS version and that will have some color matched stitching
Alcantra seats You will have no problem with that when the subaru will cost $6grand more
Push button start/proximity entry cool but why do you need it?, RS will hopefully have it
Hids then get one... with a bulb temp of your choice
Led Accents bubby's led accent looked good, gt86 leds were tacky - keep those on the audis
Fog lights Get one when you buy a car

All this will cost thousands aftermarket if at all possible to even get it.
Yes and the car itself will be $1000s of dollars cheap... i would rather have a coilover set than red stitching, dual zone ac and ballz heater
Factory scion head units are crappy compared to the aftermarket.

explain pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee

Has anyone else noticed that this scion model is unpainted under the hood

Is the rest of the car that dull gray color underneath as well?

Sorry if someone else has already brought it up, but I can't keep up with this thread today. Its grown like wildfire.

i did not notice the engine bay, but its not even important to me. Engine will get dirty anyway.

Btw I am more happy for the normal bulb DRL... cant wait to stick some PIAA (JDM)yellow bulbs in there. I know other people who would put green leds there or blue (ticket magnet) you cant do that with the gt86 headlights. Scion's motto is "united by individuality". I cant be different if i have the same stuff in my headlight. i want yellow drl and yellow fogs and 6000k HID's.

And turbo power.

And Lotus handling/weight.

With GT-R performance.

For $21,000 and not a dime more!

so what im saying is that the FR-S is the last straw. if this built from the ground up sports car cannot make scion into an "enthusiast brand" then nothing will. does scion need to be an enthusiast brand? imo, yes! sales are going down. the only thing it has going for it is low price and toyota reliability. that can only go so far with the rise of hyundai. they MUST use the FR-S as a catalyst to replace ALL of their models with FRESHLY styled models with modest performance and "fun to drive" character.

Define "didn't go far enough". The factory doesn't "need" to go far. It's not a tuning brand, it is a brand that delivers a blank canvas to allow you to do what you want. The blank canvas is suppose to be cheaper on the wallet. That's Scion's whole MO. Their MO is not to deliver $30k sports/performance cars, but to deliver under $20k so you can make it into a $30k "whatever" you want.

So again, what is "not going far enough". They are #1 in reliability.

I hope it is as "under $30k" as the BRZ is "under 300p"

It'll have to do!

You could always do a JDM stickerbomb under-hood with clearcoat.

The more I think about it, the hvac controls arent so bad, if it were the same on the others we wouldn't be crying about it at all.

But who thought that stereo fit in there at all. If the price point is decent enough I am on board. Cant wait for official prices, spec options etc, and to try it on for size.

At this point, I think I'm going to build a nice CarPC for the double DIN slot; biggest touchscreen I can fit with a Brazos APU and a nice Intel SSD. Will be a nice little project and it won't weigh much.

I can't wait to hear pricing for this car once Detroit rolls around.
