LOL.
Picked my car from the dealer. They couldn't replicate the chirp (weird, came right up when I got home from the dealer), BUT, when they contacted Subaru about the noise coming back they were told (per my rep) to make a recording of the noise and simultaneously to make a video of themselves recording the noise.

LOL, WHAT?!

Yeah I had a bunch of issues fighting with Toyota when I said it came back they admitted it was the same noise took it in to fix it and Toyota denied the work order when they called me and told me I contacted Scion and my case manager was able to get me on the list for the new part

Can they hold a mirror in front of them so they can see themselves recording and the engine sound. Better yet have them put a toilet in the background and have them make the duck face. Lol

You forgot holding up a current newspaper to show that the person recording was alive at the time of recording.

Toyota and Subaru still have no idea where the cricket is hidden after half a year ??? This issue is not because of the HPFP so what the cause ?

Unless I missed something in the cricket threads, it IS the HPFP and it is "fixed". The problem however seems to come back(obviously), because they are replacing the cricket HPFP with the same HPFP that will eventually start chirping like all the rest.

It won't be completely fixed until they redesign the HPFP, which is something I'm sure they have very little intention of doing anytime soon. It's cheaper to just install a new soon-to-be-cricketing HPFP.

So, in other, much simpler words - there is no fix.

I got my HPFP replaced for the 2nd time. So far the cricket noise has not come back after 300 miles. The only gas i put on my car now is Shell so i don't know if the problem will come back if I use a different brand of gasoline.

If you've already had it replaced twice, what would give you any idea that it isn't going to come back a third time?

As for the 300 miles part, nearly everyone had cricket-free driving in their first few hundred miles. That is the only time it operates "properly" and is the other half of the evidence that there is and always was a problem with the pumps design.

My BRZ was made several hundred VIN #s after the TSB cutoff and I never got the crickets. I am currently at 2300 miles. FYI: I use many different brands of gas.

I don't know the situation with ethanol-free gas in WA, but when I tried some ethanol-free gas in mine chirping went away quickly and it took several refills (not from complete empty though) for it to return. So if you occasionally fill-up with ethanol-free gas, you won't really hear it.

Just about 100% of the gas stations use ethanol in my area (Oregon). I did a search when I first bought the car and I could only find a single station in my area that carried ethanol-free gas. Lots of ethanol, no crickets. YMMV.
