They didn't?

have you not heard of the FT-1?

86-Trueno/Levin successor

FT1-Supra Successor

RC-Altezza Successor

LC-Soarer Successor

SFR- Toyota Sports 800 Successor

Toyota seems to be building nothing BUT successors right now all that's missing is Celica GT-Four and MR-2

I don't understand your complaint

Could you please cite where Toyota specifically said the FT-1 was a Supra successor?

Edit: found this but is it everyone just calling it a Supra successor or Toyota directly?

No official press release, but they have brought both FT-1 concepts to post next to past Supras. Also if you watch some of the official FT-1 videos you hear Toyota officials mentioning "Supra" a lot.

When I ran the Miata's dimensions I got different numbers from different sites. But this is what Mazda USA is showing.

Toyota S-FR
Overall Length: 3,990 mm
Overall Width: 1,695 mm
Overall Height: 1,320 mm
Wheelbase: 2,480 mm

From what I have been reading the S-FR is about 10 inches shorting than the FR-S but 3 inches longer than the Miata.

Yep, that puts the Toyota at 3 inches longer, about 1 1/2 inches narrower and almost 4 inches taller. It is probably the height that makes the car look a bit ungainly. If they produce it then it will be interesting to see how light they can make it with the MX-5 really throwing down the lightweight gauntlet.

I appreciate that roll-overs are rare. Sort of like the chances of being hit by lightning (maybe more a bit more frequent at track days but still a rarity) BUT one thing that never fails to get my attention is seeing some guy driving a convertible and the top of his head is higher than the top of the windscreen. Even if his head is just below I can't but help think that his head will ground down like it had had a bad meeting with an industrial sander.
Once again I know this is not worth worrying about but it's something I consider every time I see it.

True, they even made the GRMN Mark X 6MT, as a sort of Mark II Tourer V successor. Sadly the next gen is going FF.
