It would be great to see yet another affordable RWD sports car go on sale but after my experience with owning the original Fiat 124, I do not think I could bring myself to buy another Fiat/Alfa Romeo product. That feeling is reinforced by a recent article I read that listed the Fiat 500 as one of the least reliable small cars. Apparently, some things never change.

The Fiat will just be a badge on it.

This will still be made by Mazda at their plant in Japan.

Not if is has the Fiat engine. To me, the engine makes the car therefore a Miata with a Fiat engine is a Fiat. The engine and transmission in my 124 was the source of almost all its issues.

Dear Honda,

I look at a 1991 CRX si and I look at a 1991 Miata. Now I look at a 2016 Miata and WTF do you have show for yourself?!

Sincerely,

And how! I had a girlfriend years ago who owned one of the original Spiders. The throttle actually was connected to the carb by wire rope! Cheap and cheesy. I nicknamed it "the Flat."

I didn't marry that girlfriend, BTW. Just couldn't handle the shade tree mechanic relationship with that car. :-)

Reliability? That would not be Italian!

Before I found the BRZ I was seriously entertaining this. So cool I'd even forgive the FWD. Ciao!

100% The most fun I've had on public roads was in an Abarth while I was shopping.

It was my #2 choice of car, I'm glad I didn't pick it up though, I'm pretty sure I would have sold it by now (or it'd be scrap), found one locally and they're only asking $13k.

I am interested in seeing what Fiat does with the car. 200HP and close to 200TQ would be epic and fun in this car.

Sadly Honda doesn't listen to us and I don't blame them.

Remember when Honda built exciting cars? Regardless of the FWD thing, if it's a thing for the person in question, there's no doubt they used to build amazing machines. hey, we still have Asimo!

I'm more interested in the fact that they've taken out two trademarks indicating one might be a spyder and the other could be a coupe. Mazda has been surprisingly quiet about any type of hardtop option (PRHT, RHT,Coupe, etc.)

The NC PRHT sold very well and it would be strange for them to drop that option unless it was part of the way to differentiate the MX-5 and the 124.

There will definitely be a PRHT ND in '16, it's half the Miata market these days. Patents have been filed already.

I'd urge anyone who has a chance to see the ND IRL as it is a stunner, up there with the Jag F type.
