I've only done porsche events so far. Tobay's lot is long and narrow, so they set it up for higher speeds, at least from what I've seen. They do have a very friendly crowd which is a plus and it's well organized, I'll be trying to make it out for most of their events next season especially since my gf lives 15min away.

Amazing car. Just spent the better part of the last hour and a half reading all 28 pages and enjoying your photographs. Quick question. Is it possible to get my fitment as nice as yours with 18x8.5 wheels? I don't have tires yet and I don't have any suspension parts yet. Open to any and all suggestions including spacers if I need to go that route. Hoping to lower the car but at the same time I dont know if I should. Roads in California are terrible and for some reason they all make driveways waaayyy too steep. I already take them sideways so I'm not really sure how much room I have to work with.

yes, you can achieve the same look with really ANY size wheel. what matters is the offset.
so with an 8.5' you'll probably want like a +30 offset and a 245/40 tire. the whole flushness aspect is all about offset, has nothing to do with having wide wheels, as you can have wide wheels and a shitty offset and it won't be flush. |

+30? I saw someone with +38 on a 8.5 and the front wheel was poking like crazy! The back looked great though. Also saw someone with +45 and it looked pretty solid up front with a little bit sunken in the back. But he had 5mm spacers in the back and it looked better.

it all depends if you're on stock suspension/springs or coilovers…and how much camber you will run.

Ah. I guess I'm not too familiar with all of that. I plan to run coils eventually. But for the time being I just want it to look good at stock height. I'll be getting coils in a few months. Money is always a little tight around the holidays. Lower I go the less poke right?

Camber scares me a lttle bit. It was my impression that it completely destroys the inside edge of your tires. I can't afford tires every year so I'd rather spend whatever I need to make the wheels sit flat if that's possible. Wonder how low I could go if I did that though?

don't be silly. Toe is what kills your tires. yes if you run EXCESSIVE camber it will eventually wear your tires, however on BOTH of my DD's i've always ran -2/-2.5 camber and had no issues what so ever. unless ALL you ever do is drive straight it is not an issue, camber helps you use ALL of the tire in corners.
and camber does not mean you have to be low, its the combination of both which allow you to pull off that sleek look. on stock suspension you can get away with a +40/+38/+35 on a 8.5" wheel with a 245/40 tire and it would look flush, when you lower it you'll just add a spacer for flushness depending on how it sits. -ivan |

Thanks. That makes sense. I don't know much about suspension and alignment stuff that's a big help in understanding how it all works.

My car is a daily driver with mostly freeway driving and a little city driving. On weekends it's a combination of joy rides and trips to the beach. My car will never be tracked and will never see an auto cross course so the most aggressive driving I'll be doing is some mountain pass driving in Malibu from time to time. Are the camber and things adjustable for different driving styles? Or would changing those often ruin alignment and therefore ruin the life of my tires? As much as I love the look of a little negative camber, it doesn't sound like it's quite right for my driving needs? I'm not an expert though.

it sound like its perfectly fine for your driving needs. camber is a good thing, i'm not saying you have to have excessive amounts. 1.5-2.2ish is fine. it will give you better turn in and your car will be THAT much more special to drive.
tire wear will not be uneven, because remember you're cornering and taking turns, so while yes there is camber, with all the weight and shifting in direction you end up using more of the tire. as long as you have zero toe, and maintain proper tire pressure you will be fine. every time you adjust camber, yes you need a re-alignment. |

How important is the suspension upgrade for daily? I'm thinking kwv3 is a bit more than I need. Having a hard time justifying over 2k for suspension upgrades. Especially if I'm only dropping an inch or so. Hopefully there are some nice options for a lot less. Maybe the cheapest eibachs or bilsteins? I've heard good and bad about Megans and bc br coils. Any ideas?
