An E85 Flex kit (note, either E85 or 93) takes time to develop. It's not just an E85 tune. It's a flex kit to switch back/forth.

But still there will be a simple e85 tune...that might be done? Who knows how long they been working on this?

Well justa little update...

I have not contacted TiC yet, but I'm almost certain they do not normally tune with unichip. I will need to contact Jack later this week because I cannot log in to access the maps anymore (was able to the first week or so) and would like to take a look at the additional maps and compare them to what I currently have.

I will also be contacting him to see about possibly getting set up for launch control and also purchasing the nitrous controller to run nitrous for now, and possibly switch it over to meth injection if I end up using it when I go with a turbo later this year.

Can a Unichip be purchased preloaded with a selected tune? I'm a Mac user, and don't plan on fiddling with it to much.

Like he said, you can....but its pretty cool to tweak with diff tunes yourself.

I thought I'd contribute to this thread by posting our dyno results today

Here's my run.

Blue line is my baseline run, Milltek full exhaust including overpipe and cat-delete front pipe, stock ecu, stock intake with the snorkel delete (I didn't want to remove the bumper to reinstall the snorkel just for this). Pulled 152.05whp and 127.76tq, best run out of three.

Red line is with the Afe Takeda dry intake, Milltek full exhaust, Unichip EMS running 92 octane Fuel Standard, Timing Standard, Takeda, AllCatB map. Runs conducted on the same day. Best pull was 161.93whp and 134.78tq.

Here's the AFR with the Unichip and Takeda intake, this wasn't the best pull

Compared to stock ecu and stock intake AFR

These runs were on a Dynojet, on a very hot summer day, about 36-37C ambient temp, with the hood up. I would assume this was an advantage for the stock intake because without the snorkel, it was taking in fresh air from the fan. The Takeda's velocity stack leaves no gap, so it's not able to suck in any air from the fan.

And here's the run of my friend's car. His car is also MT like mine, same 100RON octane fuel, around 5,000km on the odo with an oil change recently (my odo is 3,100km and oil was changed at 1,300km) has the same Milltek full exhaust, but with Injen intake and Ecutek tuning. Best pull was 157.31whp and 134.29tq. Again, this was with the hood up, with the Injen taking in fresh air from the fan

Jack,

Any comments/input on the dyno sheets I posted above? Looks like the car is running rich with the Unichip and intake. This was with the 92 octane fel standard, timing standard, takeda, allcatB map. Should I try fuel out, timing standard or fuel out, timing in?

Unichip Jack - I couldn't get the vehicle filter to work on your site, but do you guys make a chip for the fox-body Mustangs? Like the 89-93 5.0L, or maybe an Explorer with the same engine. I'm considering using one of these in my '67 and looking into what types of engine control are available since I'm mostly familiar with Subie stuff.

Thanks for doing this, one of the only dynos of the Unichip to date and useful even without a stock comparison. Interesting data extrapolated from this although most numbers are close enough to maybe considered negligable. 100RON = 100 octane in (R+M)/2 method correct? With high ambient temperatures and fan cooling the Injen probably performs worse because of its design but the data gives me confidence in the Unichip tuning route.

2point0… I’ll pm you since it’s a bit off topic… short answer is yes.

HRTROD… nice post. I second 2point0, nice group of cars. I’m always a bit reluctant to comment on dyno stuff I wasn’t present for because there are so many variables. That said…

I wouldn’t sweat the AFR much because of the high ambient temperature... especially if you don't have repeatable runs. Typical “target” AFR numbers are for conditions close to SAE/JAE/DIN standard day conditions which are significantly lower. As the IAT rises, the ECU adds fuel to cool the combustion chamber… (richer = cooler, leaner = hotter). As the mixture gets richer, you’ll lose a little power BUT THAT'S GOOD. Heat = power = reduced component life… it’s one of the major reasons race engines don’t last.

A better test would be on the road with a mobile wide band early in the day when the temperatures are better. If you still see those sort of numbers, I’d try a fuel out map… but I think you see them a little leaner when it’s cooler.

With 100 RON, I'd certainly try Timing + to see what the car thinks. Pretty simple test, if the car is slower or gets a flashing CEL for a misfire, go back to the Timing ~ map. If the car is quicker and feels good, stick with the Timing + map. If you don’t feel/see any difference, I’d run the (more conservative) Timing ~ map.

Cheers
