There seems to be alot of forum activity on managers talking about MSRP + markup.

Seems like the markup would depend on dealer to dealer? Those in the California Irvine preorder group buy seem to be able to get MSRP or under at the very least...unless somethings about to happen that we don't know of yet?

thats what we are hoping for. based on our experience with Subaru of PH, i think we will wait for the price negotiation until after the price annoucement just incase SOA have any fine line attach to the annoucement.

Just got off the phone with Rich. I tried to place a deposit but the list is full atm. He said he'll give me a call back in a few days to see if it is still possible. I am not sure if this is new information but during the phone call Rich said his manager didn't want to sell anymore BRZs at sticker price; I'm assuming they mean the GB deal is at sticker price.

Kind of sadface that I called late )=

Just put down my deposit.

#11 (according to Rich)
SWP
Limited
Manual.

Can u add me to that list you're sending to rich?

EDIT: sorry deesu! I was the last to order. He made an exception I think, cuz I spoke to him yesterday.

EDIT2: oh btw, Rich told me that our group would be getting our cars at "sticker price". What's that mean?

That means we get the car for MSRP, not invoice (which is under MSRP), but also not MSRP + dealer markup, which is usually the case with newly released cars/high demand cars (like the 1M or Boss 302 when it first came out).

izz bad...

MSRP = Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price = FAIL... for the most part

but in this case, just think of it as paying the early-adopters tax...

Yup - depends on how you look at it. You're one of the first to be driving around in a BRZ, AND you only need to pay sticker, as opposed to the buyers not in a GB, who pay MSRP+dealer markup. On the other hand if you wait until after the first wave you'll get a better deal, closer to invoice or maybe even below that. But you won't have the BRZ until later on.

Dang. Depends on what the price will be then, since it's NOT "at invoice" like what I originally thought we (the GB) were getting...

getting it at invoice was never an option...

i can wait, save up a little more for the down payment; better in the long run, obviously...

also, i'm afraid of getting first gen of anything...

But at least it's something And hey maybe we can even get some nice extras like accessories at a discount or something lol

On a side note, I could've sworn my post count was at 74 2 days ago...

EDIT:

^From your post in the other thread. Originally the GB with PH Subaru was invoice +300, so we were never really getting the BRZ at invoice - I was just explaining what invoice meant, since you asked what the difference was between MSRP and invoice

So I might just go to Renick Subaru in Fullerton to buy my BRZ. I contacted them the other day and they said they would give me the BRZ for MRSP, no markups. Originally I thought Irvine Subaru was willing to do invoice+$, but I guess it's the same thing for both dealers.

not sure who you spoke with, but jennifer @ renick told me the same thing... if i was willing to pay msrp and get a first gen, i'd have paid the deposit with them, but probably not going to happen...
