No pump failures after thousands of FT86's being sold driving thousands upon thousands of miles, only a noise that some find annoying,.... If a misplaced plunger causes this noise,......I would be inclined to believe some plungers would be more misplaced than others. If its wearing wrong,( i.e. a mechanical issue ) then we would have atleast a couple failures by now regardless of mileage,...the TSB has flat out said its not a mechanical issue,....and since we don't have any evidence of failures I'm inclined to believe Toyota and Subaru.

Had my car in today. 4 hours later it was fixed. My car was the first BRZ sold at the dealership and they took their time as this was the first one they did. Will have to drive around a week to see if everything is fine. So far so good (I guess).

This isn't necessarily the case. Wear over a 60,000 mile period is a lot different than wear over a 5,000 mile one. Again, the concern isn't about how this will affect the car under warranty (since everything would be fixed), it's how this will affect the car post warranty period, when the 60,000 miles of unknown wear finally causes a failure. For a part that's as critical to the car running as the HPFP, that's not really something I want to have issues with down the road.

It's gonna be 65F on Sunday and I'm about 600-700 miles since the TSB was done.
The moment of truth, I suppose.

UPD:11-11-12: no chirp so far. 700 miles after TSB and warm weather. I definitely had is warmed up and revved past 5k many times.

After a few hundred miles mine started chirping again. I'm taking it back in today for the ECU replacement and I'll let them get the pump stuff on order again.

Continuous HPFP replacement... Does that fall under the lemon law?

Yes it can fall under lemon law. But do you really want to part with this car? The replacement is going to chirp too. I say just wait it out, they will solve this eventually.

Of course not! I love my car, just throwing it out there as information for everyone. I dropped my car off at the dealer this morning for the ECU and told them it was still chirping, but all I want is for them to note it in the system because their "fix" isn't really a fix.
