Hello all,
I'm enjoying my mid-life crisis with my recent FR-S RS1 purchase. It's a weekend car so it'll take a little while to get some miles on it. Upgrades are coming so I need some recommendations on shops around Memphis, TN. This is my first sports car. My past weekend vehicle was a heavily modded 97 TJ. Can't wait to meet some other enthusiast.

New here from Columbia, SC.

i had been on the fence about this car for the longest time. I initially even reserved one but ended up backing out due to "only 200hp". As time passed, I kept watch on this car, looking at others too, not wanting to pull the trigger on anything and then end up regretting it. So I was determined to wait for an STI version to come out.

Enter Iracing. Not sure how many play that, but it's fun. And to try and keep this short, I found myself enjoying the slower cars in that game more than that super fast ones because they are just more involved it seems. Driver skill more than setup, etc. So, I decided, if I like the slower cars there more for the "fun" than the faster cars, whose to say I won't enjoy the FRS with only 200hp?

So I went down and test drove one and loved it. This was my 2nd time driving one and with this new found "Maturity"? maybe I could call it, I got it. I used to be big into sport bikes so I new nothing short of a 600hp car would do anything for me. I jsut don't know what took me so long to come to terms with this mentally. I love the FRS, got exactly everything I wanted in it which is everything. Good to be here and be part of the FRS/BRZ community.

You know about the regional subforums, right? Great place to meet local enthusiasts.

Newbee here, actually joined the site a couple of weeks ago. Before I was just lurking reading up on the FRS, doing research you could say. I traded in a 2013 VW GLI Autobahn for this black beauty, was looking for something a little more fun to drive and better at the track. I’ve owned all types of sports cars from a C6 Z51 to a Miata LOL yea talk about apples and oranges my wife says I have car A.D.D. and she may be right. Before the GLI we had an R30 and before that we had a Fahrenheit GTI in orange… or ticket me orange as we called it and the list before these is long… Starting looking at the BRZ but as I started to read reviews on Edmund and other sites I was turned off by what many of the test drivers noted as natural understeer. One of the things that attracted me to the BRZ was that it was RWD, I was looking forward to over steer, no more FWD for me… ROFL. I noticed that the reviews for the FRS were more in line with what I was looking for and test drove one and found it to be what I expected especially with the MT6. I have to be honest I found the BRZ in the Limited trim to be a better bang for the buck compared to the FRS, not sure why Toyota did not include the dual zone AC, keyless start, Homelink or even Nav like the BRZ but in the end I liked the front styling of the FRS better. I have put just over 300 miles on the girl and I hope to add a lot more this weekend so far no complaints and I have already started the process of making her unique to me. The usual useless add on’s are on order, lip, rear spoiler, side skirts, intake tube with noise delete option and drop in filter. The when the wife is not looking I will drop in the Greedy EVO exhaust and some coil overs, I think Ohlins since that is what I have on my sport bikes. Anyway sorry for the long intro, love the site and look forward to meeting some local FRS owners in the South Florida area.

Hello. I brought home a '15 FR-S AT a couple of weeks ago. It was intended to be the weekend car, but it's funny how I'll use any excuse to take it to work instead of my DD. That's bad because I find myself staring out my office window at the FR-S instead of getting any work done.

I'll likely keep this thing stock, but I've been considering the possibility of installing a TRD CAI.

WELCOME ........

I'd suggest you just slide in a free-er flowing air filter (like a K&N), instead of a CIA. That would be easier and less expensive ...... and get about the same result.

Also, if tyou make your pictures the size of the first one below ..... they won't over-extend the screen.

Yep, by checking your new machine ...... don't feel like a lone ranger ...... after two years, I still take a peek into the garage before I turn in for the night (JUST to make sure the garage door is down) and swipe a finger over the hood ..... (JUST to make sure the wax is still there)........

Welcome!! And I do the same thing, stare at my car outside my office window and think how sexy my car is.

Welcome!! No worries on the long intro. I also went with the FR-S instead of the BRZ, even though I love that car and my neighbors BRZ is to die for. I agree wish it had the keyless start and other options. But love the front end better. I haven't decided on what I'm doing to it yet. It already has an exhaust, but I've been thinking of headlights and tail lights. My neighbor has been great suggesting things for it. I don't see many FR-S or BRZ's around my area, just me and my neighbor. I do get a lot of looks when I'm driving or some random guy walking up to me as I'm filling it up with gas checking out the car. Hope you enjoy your ride and welcome again.

Hi all.

My name is Chris, I own a 1985 SR5 Hatch. It’s a full on race car with stripped interior, full suspension, and 20V Blacktop swap (among much, much more). I’ve had my AE86 for almost 2 years now. Most of that time I've spent wrenching on the car, and I have been happy to do so. I wanted a car I could do anything to, and my old 86 fit the bill perfectly. I was never afraid to take on a project and learned a ton in the process.

I just graduated college literally a few days ago, and have come to the sad realization that while my AE86 was a good fit for me 2 years ago, the ‘real world’ I have now found myself a part of warrants something significantly more practical. So, I figure the only thing worthy of replacing an old 86 is a new one, which is why I am here.

Once I get my AE86 back on the road it will go up for sale, with an FRS hopefully taking it’s place. I’ve been spending a lot of time surfing the forums recently doing my homework on the twins, and even test drove one.

It will kill me to see my 86 go home with someone else, but an FRS should certainly help ease the pain.

Anyway sorry for such a long winded first post. I’m just happy to be here, and will surely become a lot more active here once my 86 is sold.
