Same here. I'm starting to doubt there will ever be an E85 map for Unichip. No other vehicle I looked at has a E85 map either(correct me if there is one please)... Anyone else try to look at other vehicle maps? Am I crazy, or does our car have a selection of maps larger than any other car as well?(I didn't check them all, but certainly took a good sampling.) I didn't see any maps under Ferrari and some other manufacturers.

That and other reasons are why I've been steering away from Unichip recently. Also the new intake maps are taking forever to be posted. I've been shown how tricky piggybacks can become when they are always fighting the stock ECU and the closed loop fuel trims over time.

When E85 comes to mind, I can't imagine it's easy to tune for it without getting true adjustments to the actual tables in the ECU, not just intercepting and changing the signals. Getting consistent AFR's with closed loop fuel trims is crucial and I'm not sure that Unichip can deliver that. Also I think it says something that no aftermarket turbo/sc manufacturer has been successful with Unichip as a tuning platform yet, they are all EcuTek.

I like the no footprint idea and the price, but there has been too many delays with Unichip E85 and FI development and that makes me really nervous. Leaning towards EcuTek here...

Exactly. I invested in Unichip thinking that it would be a good upgrade path because I would be saving roughly 500 dollars by having patience vs. an EcuTek E85 flash, but now I think I'll just cut my losses and make the switch if there's no Unichip E85 solution within the next 30 days or so; they have had plenty of time to do this. For what it is it works very good, improving the performance throughout the entire powerband it seems for a low-price(best price/performance upgrade for the car out there probably), but the difference in price between these two competitors seems more justified to me now more than ever.

Yeah I'm kinda on the same line of thought... I would like a higher rev limit, and the EcuTek functions seem to be pretty friggin sweet not to mention the FI route supports ET a bit better. I was all over this for E85, because I'm not getting my car tuned NA unless its E85 or it just isn't worth the cost. Not getting headers until I go the FI route. Makes no sense to spend 700$ on some Borla UELs so I can go drop 5gs on an AVO setup and an E85 tune+fuel setup all of which comes with UEL headers... However if E85, and switching is ever available I'm on it. Hoping BRZedit will develop some too... I'd prefer the ease of self tuning...

I'm very surprised jack didn't respond to this... I thought someone posted that they have worked with e85 with other cars...I think :/ That being said I bought this for e85...No updates at all, that's not right. They were talking about e85 being close to done in DEC? The only thing I got from jack was that there was going to be a map for winter and summer blends...but that was 1-2 months ago. I'm surprised with there being no updates jack/unichip customer service has been great, that's why I'm surprised they are not telling us whats up?

Exactly I know we were regularly being kept up to date on it. That or we've bugged them so much they're giving us the finger till it's all done.

E85 fans… no fingers, I just haven’t posted because “we’re working on it” isn’t a satisfying answer.

“What happened then,” as I’ve said, are the recent huge penalties against aftermarket companies raise some important legal questions we have to be able to answer.

For the past couple of weeks, the ball has sat with our shareholders and the legal guys and everybody knows what happens to progress when lawyers get involved.

Don’t read too much either way into that… it’s just due diligence, not very satisfying, not very quick, but a step. As soon as something changes, we’ll certainly be talking about it.

Cheers

Quick question, should I take off the Unichip for my 5k service? I am also getting a new HPFP to fix the chirping (they approved it 3 months ago before I even had the chip, took a long time). Should I be worried they might refuse to replace it because I have a tune even though I didn't before? Will the Unichip harness get in the way of replacing the HPFP physically?

I would. That's the beauty of the product!

Thank you for the update!

Few questions...

Are the lawyers just backing the e85 tune? I would imagine that's a normal process with most tuners. Sadly I would imagine that's a long process?

Is the e85 tune done or has R&D went to a stand still until legal side is passed?

Thank you
