It's all about what they want, always. Now, these people can be pretty selfish and be amazing parents, but it's still their choice. You know who never has a choice in the whole situation? The kid. They can't say, "Hey, you know what? I don't feel like coming out just yet." The parent makes the choice because it's all about what they want.

That's not inherently bad. If you look at anything like this, then everything is selfish. But, I had a friend that really wasn't/isn't financially capable of supporting a family that decided she wanted a kid. I asked why she was having a kid and her response was, "Why wait?" Now, she had the one kid and had another one accidentally and last time I checked they're doing fine, but I bet they have to cut back on a lot. Those kids will miss out on a lot or struggle, because she selfishly decided to have them now, instead of waiting a little longer. It wasn't a choice that considered the well-being of the life being brought into the world. She just had to have the kid.
Umm Nev, if anybody is asked the question why did "you" do anything the response is going to start with "I".
"Why did you take that cookie" = "I was hungry"
"Why did you buy that colour car" = "I like orange"

The use of the word I does not make it selfish. There frequently is no thought put into having kids anyway. I mean somebody has to. There is a basic drive to reproduce and doing so is in no way a "selfish" act. The same applies to deciding not to have kids really. What can possibly be selfish about not reproducing? People can try to analyse this all they want but we (the majority of the population) are wired to want to reproduce and there is nothing we can do about it.

If asked why I had kids the answer would be "I got drunk and didn't bother with a condom". Well for the first one at any rate.

Hence this line: "That's not inherently bad. If you look at anything like this, then everything is selfish."

Really, my second point is better than my first, using my friend as an example. A lot of people don't think about whether or not they can provide a good life for a child before producing said child. That's what makes it selfish, really. The kid has no say in this, so it's up to the parents to know they can do it right before they do it and a lot of people don't.

Serious replies only or I will kick you out of the thread.

You need the Rolls Royce Merlin, it fits much better. That one doesn't line up with the driveshaft as well, you'll need a bit of a lift to clear it. If you'll be under heavy fire, I'd go for it anyway, but if you want the performance, Merlin all the way. Nicer exhaust note too.

It also implies it's something you had a choice about. I no longer start crying but damn, I feel like it sometimes. I admit, that usually ends the conversation effectively.

Really, my second point is better than my first, using my friend as an example. A lot of people don't think about whether or not they can provide a good life for a child before producing said child. That's what makes it selfish, really. The kid has no say in this, so it's up to the parents to know they can do it right before they do it and a lot of people don't.
That is actually a horrible example and shows your priorities in life not the priorities of others. Of course the kid had no say you can not possible spread equal rights that far. By the standard you set then the human race would have died off 50,000 years ago. "Hey Ugg let's have a baby" "No we wait for central heating"

You are applying your personal standards of what constitutes "a good life" and how things should be to "do it right". There are plenty of kids born into desolation that are perfectly happy and live great lives. There are also just as many that are born into lives that are "just right" that hate life and are horrible people. You can not take what you feel is a "good life" and say that it applies to everybody the world does not work that way.

Not sure if you have ever pieced together my life story from the couple of posts I have made over the last year or so but on a personal level I find the assumption that people need to have a certain level standard of living to be happy offensive.

I was born into such extreme poverty that you probably can not even grasp it. Even then I had what I consider an over all happy childhood. Sure I didn't have much but I survived and grew. If my parents had waited (I was planned) then I would not exist as the person I am today.

Many of the great people of history were born into poverty or bad circumstances. Should people during WW2 have stopped having kids because there was a bad situation? I bet if they had then you yourself would not exist now.

Now with all that said there are some dumbass people that have kids when they probably shouldn't but many of those are not planned much less brought in for selfish reasons and it is not your or anybody else's place to judge them.
