This is pretty disappointing, IMO. Even with the extra weight, I was still at least expecting it to handle better than the old Boss 302, considering the massive suspension change. If they couldn't even achieve that, what was the point of the new model? That having been said, the Car and Driver article seems significantly more positive than the Motor Trend one, so maybe there's still a bit of hope? I'll be curious to see track times for the new car, but this definitely isn't the change I was hoping for.

Also disappointed. I was expecting the 2015 to handle great, but even the 2014s felt super heavy. I hear the New Edge Cobras with their IRS handles amazing, but that car is significantly lighter. One can always swap that IRS into any Fox or later Mustang and have a great handling car.

Edit: Fox through New Edge, that is.

The ecoboost will be about 300lbs lighter right?

I'm guessing the majority of GT buyers will be older because of the relatively high price. I'm not surprised that the car is more refined overall.

I feel like Ford has been teasing us with this car forever. It's not even out and the car looks dated.

Eco boost will be lighter than the GT, but not the v6 :p

Eco boost is ~170 lbs lighter than the GT in Manual trim
and the Eco boost is ~5 lbs heavier than the v6 in manual trim

Another mediocre handling, overweight Mustang. Only goes to show what with superb handling out of the chute how remarkable the twins are.

I thought Ford had been touting all along that the new base Mustang GT was going to outperform the outgoing Boss Mustangs? I guess they were blowing smoke.

This whole thread made me sad.

WTF Ford???

Maybe they did that so they'd have room for another Boss-like model at the top of the handling range? Myabe the GT350?

I am dissapoint.

As with the Camaro SS, it's a great street car, not a track car.

You'll only get those vibes with the midrange pony car.

I can't say I'm surprised considering this was what I was already expecting. It was heavier than rumors suggested and handling isn't great for a car in this class. Even I didn't expect it to gain as much weight as it did. The ecoboost has a curb weight ~3650lbs.

Motortrend also tested the 2.3L ecoboost with automatic. They were generally positive but you can tell they were a wee bit disappointed about certain details.

Why so surprise? It's an American muscle car!

The interior is much better than the Camaro (2015), especially the center console. But trying to compete with the camaro exterior design, and handling, no way. Camaro flat out wins
