Edmunds - 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray Z51 vs. 2014 Nissan GT-R Track Edition

tl;dr
Quote:
The 2014 Nissan GT-R doesn't lose this one because it's not $47,020 better than the Corvette. It loses because it's not better than the Corvette, period.
Get the popcorn! This one's gonna be good.

I'd go with the Corvette, not because of RWD or driver's car -- although both traits are appreciated, but because of the insane $50k price difference. That'll pay for a lot of trackdays & tires/brakes for the car that's more fun to be tracked.

The GT-R was impressive when released, but a bit outdated now. Hopefully the next-gen will reclaim the bang-for-the-buck crown.

You forgot fixing Chevy's QA mistakes...

LOL not sure we've got much room to talk in our FR-S's, but that's what the warranty is for anyway...

What problems? All I can think of is the leaky taillights which appears to have been fixed long ago (my 12/12 build is fine), the CEL/cam position was fixed rather expediently, nothing else has been really pervasive.

Eh I was half joking, but there's the DI seal issue. Crickets. Also my auto-down/up window switch only works about half the time. Stuff like that that comes up in first year production cars.

DI - So far less than 50 cars affected, maybe 100 at most out of 30,000? < 0.33%
Crickets - I fail to see an issue here, no failures, no performance impact, just a funny noise due to design
Window Switch - That's an interesting one, very intermittent, I know sometimes I notice it but just make sure I get a long press and no issues, might be a user/technology interface issue, the switch is more affected by duration of press than how far the switch is pushed like it is on most cars.

The window switch one bugs me. I've tried longer touch, shorter touch, etc. Seems to not work intermittantly no matter what I do. Not a huge deal, but I'll probably drop it off for warranty work one of these days.

Nobody knows yet...

Was a comment on Chevy's track record for reliability, guess my sense of humor didn't go over well

I'd have that, plus Comp Seats.

But honestly, I still can't wait to see what will be released in January. I wouldn't put an order in before seeing that, also before cars get into people's hands.

I can't stop looking at them. Already started a fund to buy a used one in 3 years!

Ah, I didn't realize they were supposed to be unreliable. Drove them all the time when I worked in IT with the SCHP, never had any unreasonable issues with the Uplander or Impala I had, up to 200k miles.

You too, eh? I don't own the FRS yet, but I do need a car within the next year or so.. Really want the FRS, but considering getting something much cheaper instead and saving more towards the Vette. First world problems!
