Sigh @ the day my best friend became a hipster. I'm just glad he was a gamer, nerd, and tech head first; he at least embraces that more than he does his hipster-ness. Well at least when I'm around

Had that happen to me on numerous occasions. One time I procrastinated, did an essay last minute only to find out class was canceled and it wasn't due until the next meeting which was 7 days later.

I know what they're protesting. They're mad at a promise that was made that they would get a job/career, make over 60k year starting after earning a 4yr degree in liberal arts. /sarcasm

Get a degree in S.T.E.M. Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or grind more & network to find better jobs.

I embrace my gamer/nerd/tech geek status. It got me where I am today.


I remember a time when baggy clothes, big chains, bling bling, team jerseys and air force ones were the trend. I use to rock those 8-10 years ago and now looking back I call my younger me a total fing idiot. I'm embarrassed. I still wear my team's jerseys but only if it's fitted and not over sized.

These hipsters will find out if they're following a trend or truly are 'hipsters' when they look back in 10 or less years.

[generic dumb girl voice]: "EWWWWWW I HATE MATH"
(no offense to girls, it's just that the business major guy response is more "dude, that's so hard man...why do you want to do that?" [tacit answer: so I don't starve like your business major ass :P])

But seriously yea, every single person I see in STEM has a pretty easy time finding work, even if they're not the cream of the crop. I hear liberal arts kids take unpaid internships? Yea, uh, people with useful skills get paid for their work, thank you.

I couldn't help but chuckle

It's a sad sight to see people studying so hard only to come to the harsh reality that their *insert useless major* degree ain't gonna put food on the table or give them the lifestyle they were hoping for especially with those huge student loans. And if I was a business I'd give college kids internships. Why? Interminable amount of free labor.

I was an intern but I showed the suits in the company reasons why they should hire me by grinding & outworking everyone else. It also helps that can I sell myself well, listen and talk to people. I'm in a selling business after all.

Keep in mind, though, that experience is sometimes just as important as a degree. A degree mostly proves that you can write papers and put up with horsesh1t.

A computer programmer with 4 years of experience and a business degree may be more valuable than a Comp Sci grad with no experience, depending on your needs.

True and that is why companies will hire the 30-50+yr old unemployed man/woman with experience & degree over a fresh graduate because that person will probably work for the same or less because they have more responsible ie families, mortgages, bills, etc. And as result of this it's getting harder in this economic climate to find decent jobs.

I'm starting to feel sorry for the numerous amount of graduates that are having a hard time starting their careers. It is what it is. I'm just glad I'm one of the few that is lucky enough to enjoy what I do and do what I love.

At least they have some of the HUGEST impacts on the Human World then being an old ass average joe. Maybe it's god's work, IDK
