got my codes and emails from service as well as subaru usa,

"the codes for your car were P0300 for engine misfiring & P0019 for camshaft position correlation (bank 2 sensorB). The camshaft position (valve timing) is the cause of the misfiring."

no eta on parts as of yet. poop.

You nailed it! Now that I've been lucky enough to drive and own this thing, I do NOT want any other car!

I spoke to the service manager on duty and he said they found a metal chunk in the timing area. Leaving car as is until tomorrow morning when the Scion rep arrives. I don't think the ECU will fix this one. They are unable to determine where the chunk came from. I asked for a picture, he said he would email to me in the AM. I wonder if I will ever get that picture My confidence in the car dwindles further. Not all 86's, just my particular one. My car was driven by me for 3 days and has sat in their shop more than 3 weeks now. Most of that time sitting outside! I have a feeling I'm going to need a lot of freebies to make me feel better. Super pissed that I don't have the confidence to take the car and have turbo kit fitted now for fear I will need the warranty. I may have to do something practical with the money like new floors in my house.

Chris

Chris

that just hurts bad

I'm not comfortable leaving my car at the shop waiting for any other parts than an actual fix. I am gonna try to get her out tomorrow. IDK if I have to tow the bitch

scratch that...Imma leave her there...24 days closer to a lemon

BRZ order canceled

First of all, this thread is awesome in pooling all the information regarding this engine issue and owners' dealership/ warranty experience. Kudos to everyone for your contributions.

Slightly now... Some of you may have read my thread in http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=17069&page=3

In my final response to the dealership owner, whom had indicated that information learned from car forums are, and I quote "what's stated is misrepresented, assumptions, and/or outright mistruths when it comes to any sense or understanding of the technical operation of vehicles (I read these forums from time to time and cringe at the information published to be fact when it is truly pure speculation without a justifiable basis)."...... I had assured him that the problems highlighted were indeed very real, that even though the posts may be mixed in with livid emotions (of owners whose cars are out of action for weeks on end), a report of engine problem still counts as a report and to date there are over 90 counts and that number is growing everyday in this car forum alone. I had also attached the resources seen on this forum.

Anyway, long story short..I say this with the most pained emotion: I now count myself among the few who has canceled their BRZ order due to these seemingly unresolved issues. Although I remain confident that Subaru and Toyota will be able to resolve this in time, my head has won the decision over my heart that this is something I do not want to deal with (even if I wanted to I won't be able to find time to coordinate SOA and dealership calls..given my overwhelming work schedule).

I test drove a 335i and 135i over the weekend and have decided to hunt down a lightly used 135i for my fun vehicle. It may not be the handling nirvana that the Frs/Brz is but for everything else, it'll do just nicely. I can already sense flamers ready to pounce but let me just say this...with everything that you are about to throw at me regarding the twin's prowess and design philosophy, I get it! I have been following this car's development since it began as a rumor, I am an all-time fan of the anime series Initial D and as I've said, this decision pains me..greatly. . The 135i or whatever vehicle I may end up getting will always be second to the BRZ.

I will update here again if I hear anything from SOA. Until then, its been real... long live RWD!
. Perhaps if I am lucky, I will be able to pick up a used FRS / BRZ in couple years (once this CEL issue is resolved) for track duty. Cheers!

My car had slight idle issues (just dips to 400 rpm then goes back to 600) a few times (im at 7400 miles, only occured in first 4000 miles) but I havent noticed it lately. Tho, for New Orleans, I know Ray Brandt has two cars currently waiting for ECUs to come in due to this issue. They have no way to flash the ECU, so they must wait for physical units.

The only problems I have had with my whole CEL/SL experience are the waiting game of when parts will come in and general lack of awarness at the dealer level. This is only my experience and the dealer I purchased my car from has only sold 3 or so FRS and mine was the first one they saw come into service for anything.

My rep at Scion said it best with

"The Dealer is going to do what they think the correct course of action is after talking to the engineers"

My dealer tried to have me take my car and drive it till parts came in. I was not happy with that response so I called my rep who then called the dealer and told them I was to stay in the rental.

My best advice to anyone having the CEL/CL issue is call the corp. number and get a case opened and rep assigned and if you are not sure the answers your dealer is giving you is in YOUR best interest get the rep involved.

Just spoke with Lana @ soa. Last of 4 parts should arrive on the 25th. Said I was the 1st she's had with the issue. I asked if it was worth tearing into my engine iso waiting it out parked @home for a perminant fix. She said this is what needs to be done.
I guess I'll have to swallow the gut wrenching feeling of having a new engine taken apart for no real reason than to find out the hard way it's an ecu. I hope they have a fix before she's cracked open and My sympathy to the others that are in this boat

Your in a better position then most of us FR-S owners because at least Subaru tech have exprence with boxer engines. This will be my techs first exprence with this engine. That being said I've talked to him and I'm confident he's going to do me right. My parts will be in one day before yours are...
