Not sure if anyone mention this (too lazy to read yall messages) changing the tranny oil with motul 300 and let the car warm up usually help with the shift. If all fails you still have a power train warranty to get it check out for free. Make sure that they actually have a solution before messing with your car. I had bad experience with toyota service. Had my high pressure fuel pump changed 4 times!!! Each time they "promise" that it will fix the problem, was about to file a lemon case but didn't have time on hand due to school. Goodluck!

Thanks! I've read about the switch to Motul 300 and I was going to do that after the break-in but I just wanted to make sure it wasn't user error. This does seem to occur more often during warm up but it is definitely not limited to that.

The loud "clunk" from 1st-2nd is known in this car, it's normal. Some have gone the route of changing the trans oil, but it's not entirely necessary. The trans is a bit finicky when cold, allow your engine to warm up before driving. During your first 5-7 mins of driving, shift at a higher RPM (3.5k-4k). The clunk will not go away entirely, but will feel easier to get into gear as the car gets to optimal operating temps.

There's alot of noise coming from the frs tranny
Some of us get the infamous "quack" noise from each shift. Some have very loose shifter. I just got my brz limited today and my shifter is very tight compared to my frs . You should be covered under the 60k miles for the tranny. So get it check out before more problems occur . My frs was so terrible to the point that 1st and 2nd gear would grind often.

Do you really think there is a difference between the BRZ and FRS tranny and shifter? There maybe variation from individual car to car but not because of one being a BRZ and one a FRS.

Meh prolly my frs had some sort of defect. It just feels alot different . My friend has an frs and his steering and tranny feels alot looser while his car is currently at 3k miles . Might also that the original brz owner installed mtec springs (heard this effects the shifting)

Ya there could have been something done to it. My FRS at almost 40K is as tight and perfect shifting as the day I got it and I have never had any of the reported issues (so far).

Have you tried mtec springs? Wondering how that will affect shifting

Haven't felt the need to do anything to mine just yet. I seem to be lucky in it has always shifted perfectly. Will leave it be unless something changes.
