The firm suspension doesn't bother me but I have to admit it's partly thanks to decent roads. When I drove it back to Ohio to visit family, those frost-heaved roads were pretty brutal around town.

As far as I know, the BRZ trunk has a trunk lining for sound deadening. DOn't know the existence of any other parts. There are some shock differences too but these shouldn't be night and day.
Maybe FRS owners are more picky.

They are exactly the same with only some minor cosmetic differences! There is no better or worse quality between the two.
I am the same as you and don't have any of those complaints about my FRS. Ya it is noisier then a family sedan, ya it rides rougher then an expensive German car, ya there can be rattles and buzzes but like you I am not so picky and expect these things from an inexpensive sports coup. People want to get rid of every one of these things then they need to fork over the big bucks for the higher end cars. Of course then they would just find new things to complain about anyway.

I'm going to assume the OP isn't a troll. It just seems a bit odd, but.. hey... let's assume about $18k for a babied '13 FRS... that leaves some money for mods.

My suggestions ("other than check the tire pressure" he testifies, as he thinks he can feel it with his butt in this car) include looking in to 16" rims, 16" steel rims, comfy compliant tires and suspension work. Let's face it, we are all waiting for our stock tires to wear out... unless we love hooning around and skidding all sideways, which is completely juvenile and someday I will get it out of my system. In which case, we will tell people how crap the stock tires are and buy them from you, cheap.

Other suggestion is take the car autocrossing, and see if you still hate the suspension.

Holy crap dude, chill out. He didn't tell you to fuck off and you're the one who came in and dismissed observations first, absurd to think you'd be offended at the taste of your own medicine.

I agree 100% with you that the guy is probably wrong given everything we know about the way these cars were designed, spec'd and built.

Nobody really knows he could be totally correct in that something is different, he wouldn't be the first Toyobaru with blown OEM shocks, only found two but there is definitely more and I'm lazy. (yes I skipped the guys that changed the suspension)

If OP did not get what was said in this thread then debating it here will not change things!

I think @Captain Snooze really did his home work on that one and pretty much smashed all the misinformation.

I'm not a troll, guys! Well, my mama told me I could be anything I want in life...

The car handles awesome. I took it out last night with my wife and hooligan'd it up like we had school loans. It's the ride quality that is the subject of constipation in this thread. And the DIFFERENCE between the '15 BRZ and my '13 FR-S ride quality.

I don't want to auto-x this car. It's my daily driver! Plus if I'm going to wear a helmet it's going to be an HPDE and I'm not going to come back bitching to you guys "I drove my FR-S at Laguna Seca today and Turn 6 was SO BUMPY GUYS WAHHHHH".

Yep, been reading that thread over and over and actually going to buy some '15 suspension to put on my '13. So problem solved... just making a discussion cuz, you know, it's a forum!

I would never trust someone selling a used FRS, no matter how much he used the word "babied"

A trustworthy seller would say "of course I can meet your mechanic for a PPI".

Ya there was a pile of info there!
I went the other way and actually made mine stiffer so now nobody ever wants to ride with me!
I personally have no issues and I spend 14 hours a week bouncing around in there.

This thread got real interesting!

Thanks to Donoman for getting it rolling, and Tcoat for pointing to the Captain Snooze thread full of good reads and fun ideas for on-the-cheap suspension mods.

I hope this car does well enough to become a sort of hard-top miata for playing around with. We may not have horsepower or torque, but then we couldn't afford this car.

I used the word "babied."

And like a mechanic in a PPI, I used my advanced photosensors (eyes), performed compositional analyses (looked, smelled) and used my best judgement.

Work on your own car. You will reach my level of badass someday. And you'll be able to PPI a car pretty well aside from not being able to lift it up. That's what the test drive is for.

Don't get angry and respond back with something mean. What I speak is the truth.
