I'm approaching my 2nd anniversary in July. This is the first car I truly modified and wrenched on myself. I think it has ruined me for all other modern cars (heavier, numb, "luxurious" etc)

Also had my first track day in this car, first Scandinavian flick, etc.
I don't think I will ever lease another car like this. It's too much fun to be hindered by mileage constraints.

Fwiw, I also don't have any 2nd gear issues - even when it's cold.

I certainly appreciate all the replies! I have been trying BillyK's suggestion on staying in first for 5 seconds and then shifting to 2nd. I would say 9 time out of 10 it works but everyone is right, 5 seconds in 1st feels like an eternity. I also make sure to let the car warm up for two to three minutes in the driveway before taking off.

I was doing some shakedown runs in my '71 240z this weekend as I was adjusting the front alignment. Climbing back in to the FR-S makes me wish I could transplant the steering and brakes from the FR-S to the 240z. Not to mention the AC for the summer!

Hey - 9 out of 10 times is certainly an improvement, right? Glad it's working for you.

So glad you "get it" now. Hopefully my touch of sarcasm when you first talked about your issue helped.

I chuckle when I see the mileage of some of the guys with the car a year or more.
Yep me too. I roll between 32-35,000 miles a year. 110 mile round trip commute five days a week and it seems like my days off just can't be low mileage days either most of the time.

I'm curious as to what you do for a living that racks up all these miles.
