+1

One day in november, it decided to snow 5 cm at night. I still had my all seasons on when it did. It was fun but scary af. No lie, it literally took me about 20 seconds to turn left at an intersection as there was no traction at all. I literally had to drive sideways for most of the time I was out. With winters tires, I have to try really hard to slide it side ways even with 10cm of snow.

Also don't forget while slapping a set of snows on the stock 17" wheels is still good, it's much better to get a smaller set of wheels and throw a set of tall narrow tires on there. A set of 16's with a 205/50 snow tire on them would work very well.

A little side note about weight in the trunk.......I personally found that it has helped. last year, with no weight I had no problems, but this year, I experimented and found that extra weight helps put a little more grip on the back end when you really need it, like up a steep hill. Side note though: I had a jug of washer fluid in the trunk and it moved around and hit the "VALET" button. This then prevents the trunk from being opened with anything EXCEPT YOUR KEY! Do not think that your trunk button is broken, or that it is frozen shut...first pull out the key from your fob, and open the trunk with it. Then push the valet button located on the drivers side, inside your trunk. The position your washer fluid in a way this does not happen again!

I put my washer fluid and any other necessities like a few microfiber cloths and scrubber in a little shoe bag that I then tie to the handle that is used to open the cover for the spare tire. Been working like a charm for months now, the last thing id want is a bottle of exploded fluid in my trunk

Drove the car (VSC/TRAC off) the 18 or so km downtown to work.
Poor conditions, but with proper footwear (I keep a pair of comfy shoes in the car - I usually wear leather dress shoes), it was pretty easy to get to work.

If anything, the FWD and AWD guys were driving a lot slower than they needed to (but that's understandable in this weather).

Slowly trying to wean myself off of the nannies.

Got in my car this morning, and at -25C, she started right up! This is what my dash looked like though! Almost had to scrape it!!
For the first time my stereo/Nav unit did not come on right away.......about half way to work, it did with a message "temperature returned to normal". At least I know this is supposed to happen.
I also love the "smoke screen" you give the people behind you when you accelerate from a light while the hot gas expells from the dual exhaust!

Just shy of 30,000km's in the 6 short month's I've owned the FR-S, it's still a joy to drive. To say we've been through a lot this winter would be a bit of an understatement.. No problems.. but I'm ready for spring now...

Decided to drive the car out today seeing how all the roads are bone dry. Finally got to use VSC Sport Mode in crappy unplowed tight parking lots and even up the ill-plowed Shell car wash path. The allowed wheelspin is just perfect and not too crazy. Getting into the car wash with the car wiggling non-stop while making sure to not wrap it onto the sides of the entrance took quite a bit of finesse.

Don't want to piss off the garage next week for the flexible draw stiffeners install with a really dirty undercarriage (OMFG I sat there for an hour translating the instructions into English without knowing much Japanese lol).

I'm always afraid that the bolts underneath will rust and seize from Winter driving before I'm able to afford to get all the mods I want bolted onto the car.

Last weekend we got a little rain, and that took off most of the salt, but then I took her to the touchless, got the under-body spray washer and took my sweet time going over the jets. She looked so pretty in the driveway.

... Then we got 25cm of snow. Haven't moved her in over a week now.

...I'm running 200lbs of a bagged "sandbox" in my trunk, strategiclly placed around a 12"sub...Hankook iPikeRS winter wires..Weathertech insanely slippery, gonna twist your ankle/break your leg mats while trying to look normal getting in your car and realizing you just performed a new yoga move.... mini shovel knowing I'm going to get stuck in deep snow..... and a huge a$$ brush...A thrill to drive in winter if you are smart and drive to the conditions...Depressing when its dirty...short term excitment when you finally wash the car and remember its original colour and lustre;short lived with the winter we have been having, but memorable nonetheless.........I dont know about anyone else but the inside of the car heats up quickly, and its a "carbeque" in no time..

my 2 cents......

This is why Suberman can't drive for f*ing shitz!

Internet died so I had to goto the office.

I came out at 5pm to the parking lot and it's a fluffy snowstorm (thanks for the disinfo Environment Canada). All I had was new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires and absolutely no experience with RWD stick shift driving in the snow. Took off in 2nd gear and quickly into 3rd and then 4th all the way home from Markham to Scarborough @ 30ish km/h (car becomes unstable when it hits 40km/h). The ass kept swinging out to the right (VSC & VSC Sport made no diff.) and freaked everybody out so they all gave me plenty of room. Did stalled at Midland and Finch cuz the snow was too thick, so I looked like a loser going thru the intersection mad slow sideways lol! Made it home in one piece no sweat really. Hardest part was actually making up the driveway and into the garage with zero traction so did take me a min or two.

17" Michelin Pilot Alpin on another set of STI rims next year for sure.
